Question about Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer

Fisher Paykel DEGX1 no heat, therm tripping - used multimeter

Ok, my thermostat tripped a couple weeks ago on my Fisher Paykel DEGX1. I reset it and it worked for 4-5 days, then tripped again. I tested the thermostats and all 3 have continuity, both elements are receiving 240V and the Yellow wire element has a resistance of 14ohms and the purple element is registering at 24 ohms (the service manual states the yellow should be between 13-19ohms and the purple between 38-45). I start the dryer, watch the elements start to heat and the only element that starts to get red is the purple element. After 5-10 seconds watching it, the thermostat trips, so I reset it and it will start to heat again and then trip the thermostat 5-10 sec later. I don't know why the yellow one isn't heating at all, it may very well be designed that way that only the purple one heats initially and that the purple one is bad and tripping the thermostat before the other element gets the signal to heat. I don't know how else to test the motor control unit so I'm guess that I should just replace the purple element since it's the only thing that is showing out of the normal range (24 ohms when it should be 38-45). Anyone have any info on what I could be missing? I'd hate to order parts and not have it fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

Heats when unit is not on

Same thing just happened to my DEGX1. I took it apart and one of the heating elements had broken and fell to the bottom of the metal case. I think it was creating a short to ground and making it heat. I removed the broken element wires and attached them back best I could and did a test run with no problems. It is not heating when off now either. had the elements for $67 so I ordered a set and will replace both of them (part #395583). My dryer is only 4 years old and 3 weeks ago the driver belt broke. Irritating they can't make them last any longer these days.

There is no reset circuit.

Parts that must be tested are high limit thermostat and timer board.
The timer board is replaced if it is visibly faulty, or if there is no problem elsewhere.
The high limit located near to the element is tested reading impedance with a multimeter set at Rx1. If there is no continuity , the thermostat must be replaced.

Before testing parts check the lint filter, and ensure that air ducts are clean.

Fisher -paykel dryer will not heat '

Probably your resettable thermostat has been "tripped" either due to poor venting or just failure... there is a rebuild kit available for this issue. Call F/P

Fisher paykel degx1 electric dryer

Restricted venting is the most likely cause, they did change the thermostats a couple years ago. the small t-stats should look cut out on the metal side they should not be solid, also check to make sure the elements are not shorted to ground.

Fisher and Paykel DEGX1 Electric Dryer Stays Warm

Yes, get a new element. The reason it's on all the time is because the element coils have broken and one of the coils is touching the canister that encloses it. This creates a direct short to ground. By the way, the element has 120 volts to it all the time. It will only HEAT when 240 is applied through the centrifugal switch of the motor. Your 120 volts is shorting to ground... not enough amps to trip the circuit breaker, but enough to glow the element.
