Hi,

All you have to do is reinstall the printer.. But before that just uninstall the printer completely from the pc.. Then unplug it from all connections.. Then power off the printer for 30 minutes.. It will reset the printer.. Then replug the printer.. and download the latest driver of the printer from the following link..

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=441125&

After finding the driver for your printer.. just reinstall a fresh copy of the printer..

If the Problem Persists, then unfortunately you need to call HP and i am sure, they would offer you an exchange in lieu of this.

If you search on Google, you would find many people faced the same issue, I wish i could have a better solution. I wanted to give you the honest solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Does it state any cartridge error number?

I have the 5610 all in one. No cartridge error number. It is my colored cartridge. I have replaced it with a new one and it still states the same thing which is refer to device for documentation to trouble shoot.

Power off printer, then press and hold buttons while powering on, if it doesnn't reset, then unplug it and press and hold buttons while plugging it in, please tell us if the machine even tries to reset.

    # and 3 Partial Reset

    # and 6 Semi-Full Reset

    # and 9 Full Reset

A Full Reset will clear any stored information in the printer, speed dials, etc, so always start with a partial reset and work your way up.

Hello,

There are several different ways I've come across which will resolve ink cartridge errors on the HP Officejet 5510.

HP's standard, pat answer to the problem is "Buy brand new genuine HP ink cartridges." If you refill your own ink cartridge or have it done at Walmart or somewhere else, you will eventually run into this problem. Why? Because the 5510 stores information on as many as 2 of the black ink & 2 of the color ink cartridges you have used in the machine - complete with an "expiration" date for each of those cartridges. You can refill them, but unless you clear the stored memory in the printer you probably won't be able to get around the errors. Even if you do, they usually come back in a short period of time.

  • If the above doesn't resolve your problem, try removing both cartridges, then - with the printer still turned "ON", unplug the power supply cord from the back of the machine. After one minute has passed, press down and hold both the "#" button and the "6" button on the keypad and while pressing those buttons, reach back and plug the power cord back into the machine. The LED readout will indicate "Initializing" and "Reset..." Then, release the "#" and "6" buttons and wait until the machine re-initializes and prompts you to install ink cartridges. Reinstall the cartridges and see if the problem is resolved. The reset procedure, as well as other troubleshooting procedures (paper jams, ink cartridge jams, etc.) can be found here, on the HP support pages.
  • Another way of working around the cartridge error problem is to keep at least 3 sets of cartridges on hand, using the newest sets for re-filling. You may have to switch out 2 or 3 times just to get the machine's memory maxed out, but the third set should work.
Take care.

    Hello,

Turn on the printer and open the cover where the ink cartridge is
    located. Remove the cartridge.

Place the ink cartridge back in the carriage. Close the cover. Turn the
    printer off for a minute.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this
    does not correct the problem,

Turn on the printer and open the cover where the ink cartridge is
    located. Remove the cartridge.

Remove the cartridge and use a clean, lint-free, dry cloth to gently
    wipe the contacts.

Wipe from the top of the contact to the bottom. Do this for each
    contact.

Place the HP ink cartridge back in the carriage. Turn the printer off
    for a minute.
Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this
    does not correct the problem,

Turn on the HP printer, open the cover and remove
both the black and color cartridge. Close the cover.
Remove the power cord from the outlet and disconnect the cables running
to the computer and/or router. Wait one minute, and then plug in the
power cord and then the cables.

Open the cover and install the black and color ink cartridges. Turn the
    printer on.
Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this
does not correct the problem, you will need to buy new ink cartridges.

    Take care.
