Make sure the wall screen is clean. It sounds like you are missing the wall fitting screen. If this is the case you have debrie in the unit and it has plugged the water management system. Take the cover off the head and clear all the jets where the hoses connect.

Polaris 280 moves around pool ,screens not clogged water still spraying up toward bag but not picking anything up

Hi, even though the two jets appear to be spraying upwards, the force may be diminished by partially blocked nozzles. To check remove the debris bag and observe jet action as cleaner is held near water surface. the action must be strong enough to shoot well into the air. If not, then often a piece of wire can be inserted into jets to dislodge the debris. you may have to do this one or more times.
the other cause of insufficient jet pressure is that the feed hose to jets has ruptured or the zip strip retainer has broken. unit must then be partially disassembled.

Does not move around in the pool

What doesn't move around the pool?
For assistance with your problem, you can't be so general & evasive!
We may be Professional Service Providers, but we also can't afford to keep batteries in our crystal balls.
Wait... I think I may have a couple batteries with a little life in 'em..

I think I see a poolsweep sorta just acting sluggishly or barely moving around in the pool.
I really can't tell if it is a "Pressure" cleaner or "Suction" Cleaner. Man, this crystal ball is acting strangely - I can't tell if it is a pressure cleaner, is it the kind with a booster pump or the style that runs off the return water flow through one of the inlet fittings?

Anyway, try cleaning your filter - backwash the DE or Sand, or remove the cartridge & hi pressure garden hose nozzle it. See what I mean about these darned batteries, the crystal ball isn't working very well now.

You might have a clogged impeller on your pump, or your booster pump. Empty your skimmer basket if dirty. Remove the wall adaptor if you have a pressure style cleaner, as the filter screen in it, could be plugged/clogged & needs to be cleaned.

If it is a suction style cleaner, check the throat of the unit, you may have a pine cone or other foreign object blocking the entry way for water to move efficiently and operate the unit throughout out the pool.

If you have a pressure style cleaner that has a whip/tail hose, check it for holes or if the jet orifice at the end of it is still there. If that hose has been compromised, your unit will actually be as if dead in the water.

Good luck, Maybe next time I will have fresh batteries in my Crystal Ball to assist you when you feel I need to guess at your problem.

Polaris tail not sweeping. I believe the impeller on the booster is clogged restricting water flow

If unit is operating satisfactorily otherwise, the check end of sweep tail for missing orifice tip. Without it tail won/t sweep. Also check adjusting screw. Out - more tail flow In - less.

Pool cleaner will vaccuum but no movement in pool. plenty of water pressure going thru back hose

Before doing anything, take the Jet Vac out of the pool and set it on the deck. Stand clear and turn it on. It should have enough water going through the blue jet to spray several feet and propel the jet vac on dry land.

What propels the Jet Vac is not the water going through the hose, but the water going through the little blue Jet under the Hose. You can unscrew this from the bottom of the shell and clean out any obstructions. Also, check the screen at the connection where the hose meets the wall. It is located in the white valve with the red button on it right at the pool wall. It will unscrew from the wall of the pool with the system off. Also make sure the booster pump is coming on.

Also, it may be stuck in reverse or neutral. If this is the case there will be jets of water shooting forward of the jet vac when it is on dry land.

Zodiac Baracuda Zippy Pool Cleaner only clean one pool side because strong jet don't let move to other side

If you don't have directonal eyeballs on your jet's you can get a dirveter for the jet that will push the water down the wall rather than out into the pool. Get these at your local pool store. Baracuda and Kreepy Krawlie both make them.

Polaris 380 stand on nose while on will not move to wheels on ground what could be the problem

First, check to confirm that the blue restrictor disk is installed in the UWF to decrease water flow. It sounds like you are getting too much water pressure. You could also install the red restrictor disk to decrease water flow even more. If this does not work, verify the back-up valve is cycling. Hold the valve out of the water and watch the jet. It should come on and go off. Make sure that your thrust jets are working properly and are positioned correctly. Also, try removing the head float and shaking it. If there is water in the float, you will want to get a new one. Finally, check the hose floats to make sure they are
spaced evenly. One of these soultions should make your pool cleaner function properly. If you need additional help, please let me know.

380 unit floats to the top, doesn't move around pool

Check the following three things. One of these should correct the problem you are having with your automatic pool cleaner.

1. Confirm that the blue
restrictor disk is installed in
the UWF to decrease water
flow. Or, install the red
restrictor disk to decrease
water flow even more.

2. Check the wheel RPM. If
more than 32 RPM, unscrew
the pressure relief valve to
decrease water flow
to cleaner. Note: The
pressure relief valve should
only be adjusted when a
restrictor is installed.

3. Verify the back-up valve is
cycling. Hold the valve out of
the water and watch the jet.
It should come on and go off.

Restricted flow

Try cleaning the filter cartridges thoroughly. Also test operation without filter(s) in place, temporarily. Check that any adjustable jets are open and not creating too much back pressure on system.
