Question about Computers & Internet
Where Dell Flat screen 15inch monitor has not been used for a period of time or on boot up the screen displays for a seond then goes black (although in a certain light you can see the icons and programs in use). If you switch the monitor off and back on again the display appears for a second and goes black again. If you complete this around 30 to 40 times then the display appears fully lit up.
Throughout this time, where the monitor is switched on, the power button appears green
Check the capacitors on the power supply board inside the monitor. They malfunction, heat up, leak or pop and stop doing what they are designed to do, smooth out the power supply to the inverter and display board. You can replace these simply by buying the correct farrad, voltage and temperature rated replacements online for about .30 a piece or go to radio shack and spend 1.50 a piece. You can use a higher voltage like 35V instead of 25V but try and get the 105c rated ones to last longer in the hot P/S environment. My bad ones were 470 micro farrad, 25V and 105c rated and I had 4 out of 8 pop or bulge.
