Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have a touch & sew zig-zag model 758. This evening I started to hem new jeans and the thread coming from the bobbin kept bunching up and the machine kept on getting stuck. This has happened before, but I'mnot sure if it was necessarily only with heavier fabrics. I rewound the bobbin, changed the tension and changed the normal from - to +, changed these setting a few times, I tried lighter fabric which worked for a short while, switched back tothe jeans, which worked for a short while, butthen reverted to the bunching up problem again.

Hi,

I donot see any issues with the machine settings as such. Yes you are correct that jeans is a bit heavey fabric and might cause this bunching up of the thread. Also I know you have changed the tension and rewound the bobbin, would request to try doing it again with adjusting the tension accordingly. The sew machine is working fine donot need to troubleshoot it.

My Kenmore 19233 refuses to zig zag stitch past 2mm wide. At 2mm it is a reliable stitch, moving toward 7mm it is a straight stitch with one or two zig zag blips.

Do you have it on zig zag or maybe it is in one of the hem stitches. Make sure you have not selected a special stitch. Sometimes with a small width setting it looks like no zig zag, then when you increase the length you see it is not.

Singer 758 model and the thread is bunching up from the bobbin under the material

try changing the needle--flat side goes to the back of machine
rethread the machine top & bobbin--make sure to use every thread guide
make sure bobbin is wound correctly & inserted correctly in the bobbin case
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or loose threads
if you don't have a manual try singer
Go to the singer website
Click on customer support--there will be a drop down menu
Choose instruction manual
In the box type the model number(example 758)
Click search

Machine won't zig zag even though the needle goes from side to side the line of stitching is straight.

put in a new needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin--use every thread guide
make sure the zig zag settings are correct
it's also possible that the machine could have a worn or damaged gear or cam--which would have to be checked at a sewing machine shop

Bernina activa 210 won't zigzag and has bobbin issues on straight stitch

it's very possible that the machine is slightly out of time & needs to be service at a sewing machine shop
is the fabric & thread & needle compatable with each other?
did you use every thread guide when threading the machine?
is the bobbin in correctly?
is the bobbin warped?

Hi, I purchased my Sapphire330 in Jan 09 and use it maybe 2 hours per week. I began having issues when I hemmed a pair of jeans. I followed and set all the right settings (as the manual instructs) and...

sounds like when it jammed and broke the needles, the hook/needle timing got out of line. How does a zig zag stitch look? A wide zig zag stitch should have a dot of the upper thread on each side on the back where it enters the fabric. The bobbin thread should be seen from back crossing back and forth. Use different colored threads for top and bottom threading so you can see the difference. Good luck.

Brother LS-2125 Upper Thread Snapping

I had the same problem and it was so frustrating! It was happening to me because I wasn't using the right size needle. Go up a couple of needle sizes and see if that helps.
