Green square disappared from the tray, have not been able to turn wifi back on. Currently hunting for the needed executible file that loads it at startup (my guess is that will solve)

Ack! Not the green square (that is task mgr), it's the Sony-specific wifi icon

Uninstalling the hardware (in device manager) and including the check box for delete the files; followed by running the drivers downloaded from Sony and searching for hardware and reinstalling worked for me. Uninstalling and reinstalling without deleting the files did not work.

You should be able to turn on/off the wireless switch by double clicking on the green square icon on your taskbar (lower right side of your system tray beside the clock).

My wifi keeps disconnecting and have to restart phone to reconnect, but only lasts for maybe an hour

Samsung Galaxy S 4G Smartphone: WiFi disconnects (have to restart phone to reconnect, does not scan for WiFi connections):

Hello. It could be that your "Auto Network Switch" setting is on..

What Auto Network Switch does: when the WiFi gets too low the phone automatically switches to cellular, and when cellular connection gets too low, the phone will switch to WiFi

All Samsung Galaxy's are not alike for it's menu settings.. but you can try:

for S4 and up:
Settings>hold down on WiFi settings for a second then let go > un-check box at top for "Smart Network Switch"

for other Samsung Smartphones see the attached video below:

If your device is having issues trying to scan for your router.. try turning off your router for 2 minutes, then turn it back on.. make sure you wait a few minutes for your router to properly boot back up before you try scanning for your WiFi network again

My Nextbook 10.1 wont show the wifi ON/OFF switch, so I cant connect to the wifi

Do you mean a physical/hard, on-the-tablet WiFi ON/OFF switch, similar to the POWER ON/OFF switch ? I don't think any tablet or smartphone has that. You turn on/off WiFi with a "soft" switch from Settings-->Network (or WiFi). Hope this helps.

Wifi switch damaged and i need to turn wireless on

You would either need to replace the portion of the case where the wifi switch is located (can't buy just the switch) check on ebay for cheap replacements.
You could if you want remove the wifi switch and hot wire the contacts together (permanent wifi on)

How to turn on WIFI?

Look at the sides of your laptop. Look for a sliding switch with a wifi wave icon. Manually slide it to turn the wifi radio ON or OFF.

If you don't have that mechanical switch, look at your laptop's Function Keys (F1 to F12). Look for a function key with a wifi wave icon printed in a different color. Example, if F10 has that wifi wave icon, hold down the FN Key and press F10 to turn your wifi ON and OFF.

How do I turn the radio on the wireless card

When your computer is switched on, the WiFi radio is almost always transmitting or receiving signals. In certain situations, as in an airplane, signals from the radio may cause interference. Use the following methods if you need to disable the radio and use your notebook without emitting radio signals.
Use the Optional Computer Radio On or Off Switch

If your computer has an external switch installed, use it to switch the WiFi radio on or off. See the computer manufacturer for more information about this switch. If you have Intel® PROSet/Wireless installed, the current state of the radio displays in the Intel PROSet/Wireless main window and on the Taskbar.

Use Intel PROSet/Wireless to Switch the WiFi Radio On or Off

From Intel PROSet/Wireless, the WiFi radio can be switched on or off. The status icon on Intel PROSet/Wireless displays the current state of the radio.

To start Intel® PROSet/Wireless, use one of the following methods:
  • Click Start > Programs > Intel PROSet Wireless > WiFi Connection Utility.
  • Right-click the Taskbar icon prosettaskbaricon1.jpg located in the lower right corner of your Windows* Desktop to open the Taskbar menu. Click Configure WiFi.

How to use the Device Manager to Disable the WiFi Radio

Make sure that wifi is enabled in wireless switch utility. You can find that in the system tray next to the clock.
