Have a look at the system requirements of NFS Carbon. You may get an idea why NFS Carbon gives black screen in Windows XP.
Minimum:

  1. Processor: Pentium 4/1.4 GHz
  2. RAM: 256 MB
  3. Graphics: D3D graphics adapter 64 MB VRAM
Optimum:
  1. Processor: Pentium 4/2.8 GHz
  2. RAM: 1 GB
  3. Graphics: D3D 128 MB VRAM
I hope this helps!

Ello,

Follow the steps below. Its from PlayStation Forum:

1. Turn off Playstation.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION.
• Restore PS System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION System

If the above steps still does not solve the problem, then I think will have to update your PS.

Update your PS (in the settings menu the 1st option).

Go on the internet browser on the PS then go on the menu press triangle then on one of them there are delete cookies and the delete the others as well as cookies.

You could also try this as well: put the PS on then press the eject button (with no disc in) then hold it and switch the PS off at the back with your finger on the eject button still holding it, then put it back on and the fan test should be working this may cool it down. It might be over heating.

Take care.

Try running it in compatibility mode, and if that doesn't work you could also try messing around with some other settings near compatibility mode. I had to do this for an old game called Diablo 2, but it's easy enough to do.

Find the game's launcher, either the desktop icon or the .exe file. Once you find this file, right click on it and in the menu that comes up, select the tab that says compatibility. Here, check the "run in compatibility mode for" and select Windows XP, since that is the OS that you are sure it works on. If that doesn't work, try messing with some of the options too, like the resolution and display scaling. For some odd reason, those make a difference sometimes. I remember Diablo 2 having a strange combination required to work on Windows 7 for me.

This is because you operating system is too new.. This software package was built for the older O.S. windows XP or older. To resolve the problem, you need to spend the 39.99 to get new software or only use it in an older computer that has the required O.S.

You pc has an error internally, and the system is not reading specified settings on your pc. I suggest, you format your pc, that's the best option I can see. Just be sure you have your OS and drivers when you format your system.

If you need further assistance, let me know.

Pls rate me positively! thanks!

AUDIO DRIVERS

If your drivers are from trusted source just click ok continue when the windows signing for drivers pop up window appear.

Now if you click ok and then the system fails to load and then give you a blue error screen, its caused by either
  1. The hardware or its drivers cause conkflict to the system, because your drivers are not from a source you can trust and they are not in compliance with windows OS features and as a result can not run in a windows OS. So get a fresh copy of the drivers from a trusted source preferably the product manufacturer
  2. The hardware itself is faulty and on installing to XP it causes a conflict in which case you can try the Sound card on a different PC and see if it runs, otherwise you need to replace it.
  3. (Assuming XP has finished loading the OS) Sometimes XP fails to unistall the previous drivers, if this is that case goto the device manager (windows icon >right click > properties >hardware > device manager) select ypur current sound card unistall the driver that is there and then restart your machine and load the new drivers again
