You will need to lift the top of the washer cabinet to access the valve. Look along the front where the top of the cabinet meets the front. There should be a retaining clip holding the top in place about 2 inches in from each side. Take a putty knife and insert it in the seam and push in while lifting up on the washer top. The top will release allowing access to the inside. You can also remove the front panel if you need to. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further guidance.

How do I do a Ohms test on water inlet valve for a maytag wc284 dish washer

I have a Maytag WC284 in one of my rentals. It recently would overflow occasionally. This was apparently due to the inlet valve (or fill valve) not shutting off completely. We replaced it with's suggested substitute (154637401). After that it would not fill the bottom of the dishwasher sufficiently. I am betting that the substitute valve is defective or some sludge or mineral deposit has plugged its inlet.

My maytag washer is overflowing and won't go into

Hello there and welcome to fixya
This is a fairly common problems on these and other machines
Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve. Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.
Please feel; free to post me back any comments on repair help or testing and removal ian installation if needed ill be glad to help you ok
Best regards Mike

My Maytag dishwasher model MDB7130AWB started making a grinding noise tonight during drain cycle. We just had some work done on the sprinkler system and the water main to the house as well as the check...

Shut off water to the machine, remove the hoses at the machine and inspect & clean the mesh filters in the water inlets. If dirt did get into the line, it would be from the water main work, not the sprinkler work.
It doesn't hurt to clean the machine filters.
However, I would be surprised if that would cause the noise. I think the machine has a mechanical problem.

Won't stop filling with water

Does the water continue to run when the washer is unplugged from power?  If it does, then there is something stuck in the inlet valve that is keeping it open.  Could be the result of mineral deposits.  If the water stops when unplugged then the water limit switch is defective.  Unlikely since the water still flows when control knob is in off position.

Washer is over filling.

Hi, Does water enter the machine when there timer is off or even if the machine is unplugged? If this is the case, the inlet valve needs replaced. If the water stops when the timer is turned off, there is a problem with the water level switch. Please let me know so that I can assist you further. Thanks

Water doesn't shut off while switch is in an on position.

HI. Yes, you can replace the timer but, i think its a faulty water valve relay. it may be stuck or, malfunctioning.

Water won't cut off

if you have to shut the water off at the source you need a new water inlet valve. If not then you need to replace the pressure switch.

Maytag Neptune hot water wont shut itself off during ENTIRE cycle!

The water inlet valve is probably defective. There's two solenoids on the inlet valve. One controls the cold water, one controls the hot water. This is also known as a "mixing valve" on some washers. There are a few things that can cause this problem:

1. Water pressure on the hot water tap is too low and not closing the solenoid diaphragm all the way (minimum pressure should be between 10-25 psi).
2. The filter screen on the hot water side needs to be cleaned thoroughly.
3. Valve is defective.

If you have tried cleaning the screens, and have never had water pressure problems before, I would bet the valve needs replaced. I could not find an exact match for the model number you provided, but has Maytag Neptune parts. Double check your model number and use the search feature on the website. There are two water inlet valves listed there. Depending on which one you have, it can cost between $30 and $74. I hope this helps you. Post back if you have any further questions.
