Horizontal Lines and smeared color

I have a 32" RCA F3263256 that was working fine one day and then the next day it had horizontal lines and the colors seem to smear across the screen especially the red. Please tell me it is an easy fix :)
Thank you in advance and have a nice day -Renee

Hello crikett - Thanks for your reply. I kind of thought the tv was toast but I had to try anyway. I do have another tv but I just thought that it was a waste just to toss this one without doing some research.

Thank you and have wonderful day :) -Renee

No its not a cheap repair Renee, please don't invest your hard earned money into an old 32". If you can buy a newer LCD or Plasma set. LCD's are cheaper and have the smaller sizes that you may want.

Screen has gone grey and has fine horizontal lines on entire screen. Blue screen is out.

Either the screen voltage to picture tube is more than normal, or the video processor IC has damaged. There is an other possibility that there is no voltage at the video output card, plugged on to the neck of the picture tube. Anyway, your set need a through checkup, and the work is somewhat skilled one. Just check this site. Soemtimes you might get some details about this fault. The fault is called vertical retrace lines. Thin horizontal lines all across the screen with an inch apart. One among the posts published in the following site have details about this fault.
Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in "Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. There are more than 1250 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older posts there.

If you do get the backlights OK, then the next place to look will be the LCD panel driver board (T-CON), you will have to look at the board itself for the correct one for you TV. The worst case will be the panel itsef, very expensive. http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=RCA+L32WD12+&p=1

Get an ESR meter and check all the electrolytic capacitors in the set! I am sure you will find many decoupler and coupling capacitors that are on the edge or too high in ESR.
