Question about Husqvarna 16" Chainsaw Chain Saw Bar 508912166

1 Answer

Chain will not stay oiled

I have a Husqvarna 141LE and the chain will not stay oiled. I have cleaned the saw with an aircompressor, after an half hour the chain is looking bone dry. There is oil in the saw, and I am trying the Pulan chain oil instead of the 30W as the book says. Any idea?

Remove the bar and chain and clean the side of the engine where the bar fits. There is an oil port there that should ooze oil out when the engine is running fairly fast. If it does, then clean the drive end of the bar (large oil holes out to the chain groove on each side. Also clean the entire groove and oil the sprocket on the outer end (if equipped). If oil did not ooze out of the port, the oil pump, oil filter, and any intervening lines should be inspected. Once you have oil proceeding from the port, reassemble the bar and chain. Check for proper oiling by running the outer tip of the bar (at speed) near to a piece of cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil onto the cardboard. Hope this helps!

I have a Husqvarna 141LE it just stays accelerated after 3 minutes of cutting wood, and it does not respond to the shut off button. Never goes back to idle. What could be the problem?

One of 2 things will cause this on a chain saw.

1. Throttle of carburetor linkage sticking.

2. Air leak from a gasket, This can lead to damaged engine Scored cylinder.

My recommendation is to take it to a repair center, it is not safe to use like that.

Has run fine. used for hour to hour and a half and all was good. quit for an hour. added fuel and ran again. but, within 10 minutes, it died and a little smoke came from area around the pull cord. ...

Do you have the correct Resistor plug in the saw? If the plug is correct and muffler is clear, air filter clean, my thoughts would be a clogged carburetor.

How much chan lubricant should be used and what is the grade of the oil

You want to buy Bar grade oil, it is sticky and stays on the chain, it will properly lube the bar and chain with a full tank o gas. People have used, used motor oil but this wears down the chain and gears from the micro sized filings in the oil so use clean bar oil to lube the chain correctly. also if the chain sprocket has a small hole in the tip of the saw you will need to buy a gear lube pump to keep grease in the gear at the tip of the blade. This should be lube each time you fill the fuel tank and once half way threw the tank of fuel to make the bar last longer. The bar oil is a special grade of oil and requires bar oil for it to adhere to the bar and the bar guides. Hope this helps and thanks for using fix-ya.

Husqvarna 350 oil not getting to chain

Take the bar and chain from the saw. Clean the two small ports that run from the large oil holes at the drive end of the bar out to the chain groove on each side. Clean the entire chain groove. Start the engine with these parts removed--oil should ooze out from the side port in the engine case with the engine running at med speed. If it doesn't, then there is trouble near the pump inside the case. When everything is back together, run the saw at full speed with the bar tip near a piece of cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil onto the cardboard after a few moments of running. Hope this helps!

New chain installed, cut for 1/2 hour, chain now sags well below

Place a piece of white paper on the ground
Start your saw and point the tip of the bar at the paper, this will allow you to see if it is oiling or not
I am assuming that we are dealing with a newer saw and not an old manual oiler
Blowing air back through the oil ports in to the oil tank ( with the cap removed and oil tank drained) should help clean out whatever is plugging it.
Once cleared run a bit of diesel through the oil tank, drain it and refill with clean fresh oil
I never use old oil in my saws for just this reason

Hope this helps

Husqvarna 40 chain saw

This happens for two reasons. First of all, take off the chain and the bar and clean it all up as saw dust may be the culprit. The other reason is that some chain oils are too thick. you can thin it down a little bit by adding a little kerosene or gasoline.
