Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

One of my five burner control knobs will not initiate a spark. With this particular model, turning on any one particular burner will initiate sparks in all five burner igniters. My temporary workaround is turning on one of the other burners to initiate the spark sequence (all five igniters are now sparking ) and then turn on the burner that will not initiate the spark (the gas works fine). Is the problem in the control knob or the master ignition module?

Hi,
Here is a test you can use to check the ignitors, Ignitor test. I also would like to you turn the thermostat knob slowly from the off position, When do you hear the click in the knob? You should hear it before the warm or lowest numbered setting on the knob. If you don't, replace the thermostat as it has failed. Need full model number to get you part.
Good Luck

We installed our new gas stove now. I would like to know if al the burners' sparks will fire if one knob is pressed in?

This is a pretty common practice; there is normally only one high voltage source, not one for each burner, and is routed to all of them any time one range-top control is depressed. This eliminates the need for 4 individual special high voltage switches to route them to one burner at a time.

Top left burner (propane) does not seem to be receiving gas when trying to ignite it with electrical igniter (control knob). However the burner can be lit with a match when the control knob is turned past...

The igniter usually sparks for all burners on the stove at the same time. Usually a little water or gravy, or such has gotten on the little spike that stick up and throws the spark to the burner. If you will take a small brush, like a tooth brush and carefully clean around the little spike it normally starts sparking again. As it is right now, you should be able to see the spark on all the burners whenever you start any of the burners. Check to see on the one that is not lighting, I think you will find that it is not sparking at all right now.

Surface burners , when turning on left front the left back burner comes on,

Hello,

You should first check the wiring on your knob to be very sure that it is not malfunctioning or having partial contact by touching the back burner mapping or control. if everything is okay there, then you van check the below as well but if not, please fix the partial contact on the knob.

Secondly,Inspect the element to determine whether it plugs into a receptacle, as most do, or is wired directly.

Remove the plug-in element and inspect the prongs: Lift up the front of the element, then pull the element straight out.Check to see if the prongs are burned, pitted or otherwise damaged. If they are, you'll need to replace the element and the receptacle.

Take care.

Microwave shuts off after running for five minutes

I'd be careful because you do not know what caused it to spark. How old is the microwave? Do you need a new one?
