Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Analog TV with digital cable, and convertor, flickers on some stations, but not all. It won't lock onto the stations that just recently went digital.

My girlfriend plugged the convertor box into the only outlet in the TV room that is "switched". It was getting reset every-time the light was turned off!

Now that it's plugged in all the time, that and other problems are slowly going away.

    Thank You,

Hi solipsist

I`m going to help you with your setup but first;
Do you have an analog to digital converter(with antenna) or a cable box from the cable company?

It's a cable box from the cable company.

I left it on CNN for a few hours, and now the problem is resolved for that channel, even when I change the channel and go back.

O.k at first i was wondering if the problem was with your setup.

But the way i see it now , if you`re having problems getting some of the channels properly , then it has to do with the cable and/or the cable box.

You should contact the cable company tomorrow if the situation doesn`t clear itself up and explain your problem.

let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers

Can get all channels except 1, 10 and 11. Any idea why?

You may have to use more than one antenna so you can point them in two different directions to get all your stations. If the signal is too weak the tuner won't lock onto the station. You might want to try an antenna amplifier made for digital signals, not the old analog type.

Can not tune tv since change over

The KV-32FS100 only has an analog tuner (NTSC). Unless there is a low-power analog station still broadcasting in your area, you will not be able to watch OTA stations. (I've got one in my area that barely comes in.) If your local cable still sends an analog signal, you won't need a set top box to watch that subscribed service.

Otherwise, you need a set top box to watch TV. A digital to analog converter (the boxes that were available with the government coupon before the switch over) will give you over the air stations. The basic models only provide SD output; there are a few HD models available. Otherwise, you can use a satellite reciever, cable box (for digital cable service), or something like the Boxee or Sling with tuner. (There are a few different models of the Boxee; one added a tuner with a USB dongle. The newest model of the Boxee has the ATSC tuner built in.)

Note: OTA digital signal quality is either a strong enough signal for the tuner or no signal will be present. You need to point the antenna in the correct direction to receive the signal from your local transmitters. The type of antenna and its placement will also change the number of watchable channels. You can use antennaweb.org or tvfool.com to get more information. Antennaweb assumes an outdoor antenna but gives a conservative list of stations. If the signal is split to several devices, you may need an amplifier to get a watchable signal. (Sometimes amplifiers fail and you won't receive any stations, so test without the splitter or amplifier by using a direct cable to one TV.)

I hope this helps.

Failed to receive broadcast e202

Hi,

The 202 error is usually associated with a bad cable card. In your case, you need to check and see if you have one.

Did you run the Autoprogramming required to load and store the Channels?

If you are attempting to Add digital cable to your TV lineup, you must do that.

And one note -- the digital stations on your TV set will not match the lineup on the Cable box. The box was designed to line up the TV stations according to the guide, but it uses proprietary programming software and hardware to do that.

TV's cannot use the software. so you end up with the low to high frequency channels in your lineup, but it's not similar to the cable channel's lineup.

Try finding USA or TNT lickety-split....you won't.

After doing the full autoprogramming, let me know if you get only the Analog Channels from your Cable provider, or if you get NO channels locking in at all. Either one will likely require replacing the Digital tuner module.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Sound went out, all I get is white noise that you cannot mute. Happened when I changed from high def to regular channel. Even with everything unhooked still just white noise.

Analog regular channel TV was turned off mid 2009. You need a digital channel convertor box to receive the new digital channels... The analog ones went bye, bye in the USA. Without the box you will just get noise.

Convertor box and Sony Wega with PIP (2 Tuners) and new Digital DVR/VCR

I wonder if the RF interference from the digital tuner. That box will only allow ouput either through the coax or the AV ports. If you do both you will not get a picture.

If you switch them you have to tell the box what your using for output by going through the setup process.

Is the Zenith 901 converter box for your cable TV.

Do I have an analog or digital TV ?

You have an ANALOG set. After 2/17/09, you will need to be connected to cable, satellite or get a convertor box to watch this set.
