Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer

There is an open hole in the bottom of the water

Whirlpool Calypso clothes washer leaking. There is an open hole in the bottom of the water pump cover that leaks water onto the floor. I found some melted plastic that appears to be the plug and culprit. Also pulled out a bit of cruddy material from the open hole. Hole is about 6 to 9 millimeters and in good shape. Can I just plug this to solve my problem and what is the holes purpose?

Thank you very much and have a great day!

This is simply a pressure bleed-off.
You can fill it with playdough...sillyputty (gum) etc. It should have had a wax-like plug from the factory.

It sounds like you may have something stuck in the pump...try and locate the pump(normaly at the bottom of machine)and unscrew the cover...be aware that the machine may still have water in it....once you unscrew the cover, have a look and a feel inside...there may be a coin or other object stoppint the pump from turning...remove any foreighn object...replace the screw on cover and try to drain the water again....this should solve your problem.

Cabrio drains water onto floor.

I took the back cover off of the machine and found that the drain pump had a hole in it. The hole was caused by a coin that had made it's way down to the drain pump. The replacement pump cost $90.00 and was very easy to put in. If you google the words cabrio tear down you will come across a web site that has a video that shows you how to take the pump out. I have not had any leaks since. Keep the coins out of the washer, remeber to check your pockets to avoid paying out cash.

Calypso Washer

When changing a pressure switch on a calypso you have to be sure the tub is empty. blow air into the hose to clear, also observe for moisture where the hose connects to the tube for a pin hole leak in the tube.

Kenmore Elite Calypso won't drain

The most likely thing to cause the code and the leak is the water pump. If the shaft seal on the pump leaks, the water gets into the drain pump motor and shorts it out. The code is telling you there is a high current/amp draw at one of the motors.
You can see if the pump is leaking by tilting the machine back, removing the screws that hold the bottom to the front edge of the machine and looking at the pump. If the pump is leaking, you will need a new pump and possibly a new motor control board.
Post back if you need further instructions and we will walk through the repair.
