first look on your cam for the model number and brand
example veo stingray 4420 drivers is what you would type in search, next go to the websight for drivers or firmware firmware is same as the cd program, this is a bigger download, under support webcam web pages
to install drivers, start settings control panel classic view should be on, then system on bottom hardware tab device manager, look for yellow mark next to cam, right click properties, update drivers then find cd location on hard drive or have microsoft update search for it automatic
If your using a MS Windows based o/s on your computer.
Try this: open your internet browser so as to connect on line, then connect the web cam per the instructions and turn it on. This should automatically open the "Found new hardware" wizard, where you can/should chose to search the web for the appropriate software.
If that doesn't work try downloading a free program called "Driver Max" and see if that helps.
These suggestions might only get you the drivers needed, and not all the "bells and whistles" from the original CD, but at least it will work.
I assume you havent installed any drivers, so if you need to download one go to this site:-
also disconnect the camera and try in a different usb port, but install the software first unless otherwise advised.
The used by another programme popup may well be another programme that associates itself with the cam, so to see what may be running in the background, click start>run>then type 'msconfig' and hit enter and see if there is any programme that may run with your cam and untick it to stop it running on start up.
