To calculate the arc length of a curve **you need the derivatives as functions of a variable **not the derivatives at one point. If I were you I would read the manual for more complete information. Maybe if you wrote a program that does that.

I am not sure I understand what you want, but if I am guessing right, you need to calculate formulas for derivatives, where the name of some variable appears eg= d(x^2)/dx = 2 x.

No. The calculator can compute definite integrals by numerical integration, but it does cannot do indefinite integrals.

Sorry to disappoint you but the Casio FX-9750Gplus does not handle symbolic calculations. It does not have a Computer Algebra System or CAS. It can however calculate the numerical integration of a function between two limits, as well as the first and second derivatives of a function at a given point.

- To access the numerical integration and differentiation,
- Press the Menu button.
- Highlight the RUN icon and press [ENTER/EXE]
- Press [OPTN][F4:CALC]. Then

- Press [F2:d/dx] for first derivative

- Press [F3:d^2/dx^2 for second derivative,

- or [F4:integral]

The newer version of the OS 2.0.0.1188 is quite different from the initial version. It would be a good idea to upgrade the OS.

In Calculator Mode

Select Calculus (see above)>Numerical Integration>ENTER.

Type in your integral using the template. Here is the procedure illustrated.

In Calculator Mode

- Press the Menu button.
- Use down arrow to highlight 4:Calculus or just press 4
- Select 1:Numerical derivative at a point and press ENTER
- An entry screen opens where you can select the name of the independent variable (default is x, not X), the point where you want the derivative and whether you calculate the first or the second derivative.
- After you make your choices, you press ENTER and a template is displayed in calculator screen.
- All you have to do then is to specify the function you are differentiating.

For the numerical integration

Select Calculus (see above)>Numerical Integration>ENTER.

Type in your integral using the template. Here is the procedure illustrated.

Sorry to be the messenger of bad news, but your calculator FX-7400G does not perform integrals. It can differentiate though (calculate derivatives)

If you want to get an answer like 1/2X for d/dx(X^2), you will have to
purchase a CAS calculator like Casio's Algebra FX-2 or Classpad. TI series calculators also have CAS.

To calculate the value of a proper integral:

**∫**xdx from 0 to 2, input as follows:

**∫**dx(X,0,2)

To calculate derivative at a point:

SHIFT+**∫**dx key X^2,3)

Display looks like this: d/dx(X^2,3).

However, you can calculate the numerical values of derivatives and integrals only.

- Press the Integral key ;
- Enter your expression (example X^2+X-3 etc);
- Press the 'comma' key after your expression;
- Input the first limit after comma, input comma again after first limit;
- Close brackets;
- Press the equals key, display may return after a while with the answer.

- Press Shift and then the integration key.
- Enter your function;
- Input comma;
- input the point at which you want to evaluate the derivative;
- Close bracket and press enter.

If by calculus problem you mean derivatives of functions, integrals, extrema and such things, I am sorry to inform you that neither the Casio FX-300MS, nor the FX-991MS can handle them. The newer Casio calculator FX-991ES is capable of performing numerical differentiations and integrations. There also graphing calculators by Casio FX-9750G, FX-9860G as well as by Texas Instruments (TI 83 PLUS/TI84PLUS) that are reasonably performant in that area.

I assume that by anti-derivative you mean the integral. I believe that you can only calculate definite integrals with this calculator. A definite integral requires that you specify the function e.g ln(x), the variable, x, the numerical value of the lower limit, 0.5 and the numerical value of the upper limit , say 2.

Try this:**INT(sin(x),x, 0, pi/2)**

This calculator can only give numerical values of definite integrals. If you want to perform symbolic calculations, you shoul look towards some other, more sophisticated Casios Casio ClassPad 330, or the TI Voyage200PLT, or the TI89Titanium. etc.
