Question about Toshiba Satellite (K000004080) Motherboard

1 Answer

Blank screen While I was using my Toshiba L305 S5930, the screen went blank. The VGA output port does not seem to have any signal. The notebook powers up and down, the fan works, but the caps lock led does not light up. I'm thinking that the video card failed, I'm guessing a new motherboard is in order. Any thoughts would be helpful!

Yes, this looks like a video fault. Last hope test - remove the hard and optical disks and try again using different memory module and processor. If it's the same then you will know for sure

If your Laptop and Monitor has HDMI port, you may use that.

If you were using the computer at the time, it may be a cable/plug/socket failure. Try a different cable.

If you were watching a movie, you may want to check your screen saver settings. Try doing what you were doing and see if it disconnects after a specific time (so if your screensaver is set to 10 minutes, does your TV lose signal after 10 minutes?).

L305D-S5930 dvd wont burn documents to a dvd disc

You need a program, like nero.
if that doesn't work then put a DVD in the drive & see if the computer picks it up in the my computer.
the first thing that goes in a CD/DVD-RW drive is the DVD heads, thats if your drive is a CD/DVD-RW.
Have a look on the front of the drive tray, if it say CD-RW DVD ROM then it doesn't burn DVD's it only plays them.

I cannot connect to my hp dv5220us to the tv through vga. i think the vga driver is not installed . please suggest me which driver am i supposed o download.thank you.

Most laptops have three modes for video:
* output only to internal LCD screen
* output only to external VGA port
* output to both internal and external

Hold down the 'fn' ("function") key on the keyboard, and press one of the twelve 'F' ("function") keys, to "toggle" the video through the above 3 modes of operation, until you get output through the VGA port to the TV.

Also, on the TV, use the "input" or "source" button on the TV's remote control to select the 'VGA' input-port as the signal to be displayed on the TV screen.

What do I need and how do I connect my Toshiba L305 model PSLB8 050302f to my hdtv to view online tv?

I dont believe that laptop has an HDMI port on it. If you have an LCD TV then your TV may have a VGA or DVI input on it. You can connect your laptop to the TV by using a VGA to VGA or VGA to DVI cable. If you your TV doesn't have one of these input ports, then you're not going to get your laptop connected to your TV.

Connect laptop to toshiba 50h8250

This requires a converter. If the laptop has a VGA port, use an VGA to component video or VGA to composite video converter. See this site for some examples: http://www.svideo.com/pctocomponent.html . Do not use a VGA to component video cable - these are meant for projectors that use RGB signals.

If the laptop has an HDMI port, you'll need a different type of converter, like this: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component-adapter.html . Then set the output to YPbPr.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(I doubt your laptop has a video controller that can output a non-RGB signal.)

Screen blank off after xp logo on startup

it sounds like it is possible that your lcd backlight has died. it's not that easy to fix yourself. i would recommend bringing it somewhere to see how much it would cost to get it fixed, it will not cost as much as a new laptop. or you can just continue to use it through it's vga port but now it is no longer a laptop but a desktop.
