Question about VillaWare 5100 1 Quart Ice Cream Maker

Open Question

Villaware 5100 Replacement parts? The white plastic gear stripped in one place and I'm wondering if I need to throw the entire thing away. That one gear probably costs a penny.

I NEED A NEW LID, CAN I GET IT REPLASTED

I have found that 90% of canister Ice cream makers are modeled the same, I have had a Back to Basics, Rival and West Bend Ice cream makers and the lids are interchangeable.

A lot of companies don't make replacement parts so I usually go with the West Bend lid. The first thing you will want to do if find the brand on your Ice Cream maker (usually found on the motor/top) and see if the manufacture does make replacement parts for your machine. If they do not have parts available I would try the West Bend Ice Cream maker lid U66-2, like i said it is a pretty standard size and will fit most Ice Cream Canisters.

Here is a link to West Bends part page: IC10885 Ice Cream Maker

The lid is very inexpensive so even if it doesn't fit your not throwing away a lot of money.

Where can I get a gear wheel that takes the paddle shaft. Teeth have broken off mine.

Alan, there unfortunately are not any canister ice cream makers that the manufacture sells the replacement gear wheel.

Unfortunately when you have gear issues or motor issues there are not any replacement parts and they have just become a throw away item.

My wife dropped our icecream motor and i am wondering where I can purchase a new one

You can try contacting Rival to see if they sell a replacement motor. Nothing is listed on their parts and accessories page. It may just be more economical to buy a new ice cream maker, though. Most of the cost is likely to be in the motor, and even if the motor's available it may be just a few dollars more for a whole new appliance. Amazon.com lists two almost identical models by a company called Maxi-Matic, a 6-quart model for $69.99 and a 4-quart for about $10 less. You might be better off just buying new and get a warranty with it.

Sadly, almost every small appliance now is a throw-away item.

Moter slipes

Could it be that your lid is worn, or the little indentation on the can is not holding the lid in place? There could also be a stripped gear in the motor. If you need replacement parts, they're sometimes available here: http://stores.ebay.com/Lauras-Last-Ditch/_i.html?_nkw=rival+ice+cream&submit=Search&_sid=93311479

Villaware model 5100 ice cream maker bowl corroding.

I would say contact the manufacturer. Most retail stores will not sell parts like this (and if they do, it's probably a store that will be something like a kitchen specialty store--aka, a little more pricey), so the best way to go is to contact them directly so that they can get it for you (and, a lot of times, they can get it for you at a cheaper price, or, if you're under warranty, sometimes for FREE!!).

Their contact number should be either stamped somewhere on the machine (usually on the bottom--might be stamped directly into the plastic, so make sure you have it in really good light when trying to read) or in the product manual (usually near the back of the book).
Good luck! :)
