It can be any thing malfunctioning in your laptop. You should first try removing and cleaning the ram modules. maybe one of it is malfunctioning. Also try removing the harddrive and run the laptop without it. If there is some problem in the Motherboard it self like a corrupt BIOS etc then you will need to send it to Acer service center for repair. i f you can really dismantle your laptop try removing the WiFi module and any other modules as well that maybe malfunctioning.

First thing to check out is if the battery is fully charged. Plug the A/C adapter into the wall and turn it on and see if you have full power. If it still shuts down after two seconds, remove the RAM memory sticks and switch them around. Now see if it boots up. If it still does not boot up, clean the fan area out with some computer cleaner and remove the dust that may be causing your computer to overheat. When the processor overheats, the computer will shut down in two seconds. Also try to boot your computer with the original restore CD that came with your computer. If you don't have that CD then you can use any Windows operating system CD/DVD. If it still don't boot up then you will need to replace the hard drive and/or the power supply.

The first thing to do to se if it just froze is this. Remove and replace the battery and try restarting, sometimes that's all it take. Then just hold down the start key to force it to restart and clear it. If that doesn't work, we have some serious troubleshooting to do, but half the time that's all it is. Upon reboot "if this doesn't work" you will see a message go by for a couple seconds, it will say hold "F-'and a key" to set back to factory specs, "or something similar" that is next, but let's take it slow and go one step at a time. I will try to look in on you later, but because it is a holiday I may be a while due to family commitments, don't think I forgot, you will see from my testimonials, I have done several of these before. I just don't want to throw a million things at you we may not need,

First is try to check if there are issue of power porblem. Try to run the computer using the power adapter only. take out the battery and power on the computer using the power adapter only. If computer wont power up then there could be a problem with oyur power adapter. If computer will boot up then there could be issue on your battery.

I think that the cpu cooler of your laptop is not working. It's not so easy to open up the laptop case, so I advice you to get it at a service center.
