Takes up to 20 minutes to start once the on button is selected. Seems to get progressively worse. TV is less than a year old.

You may be experincing bad capacitors. They will definitly slow the turn on time. Get this TV in, as soon as possible, bad caps can take down regulating transistors, resistors and ICs. I have not repaired this particular brand, but the symtoms are classic to almost all electronics. Thanks for asking and Good Luck!

KD-34XBR970 CRT HDTV startup problem

This is a failure in the vertical amp section. One way to troubleshoot it is to get a can of freeze spray and use it on the suspect components. The other way is to inspect all the solder joints on the amp. Last would be to check voltages on the board. Since it does change with run time, it is being affected by heat.

Technika 26'' lcd tv long time to warm up

the reason maybe a bad capacitor that is taking time to charge up to the nominal voltage. check for capacitors (electrolytic) in the power section (probably smps). it may appear bulgy than the others.

Sound takes up to an hour to come on, Mitsubishi 35'' tv

A $700 dollar estimate for a sound problem seems out of line - get asecond opinion (did some one look at it or just a guess). If the sound eventually comes on you probably have a connection (internal) problem or a intermittent part in audio section -cap o/p IC.
If you use a satellite or cable box can you hook your sound from that to an audio system thereby bypassing the TV?

Try unplugging the washer for about 20 minutes then plug back in and use. I have found that this actually works! The only thing I can figure out is that it takes time for the electronic control to clear. If that doesn't fix the problem I would call sears tech since it is less than a year old. They have a 1-2 year warranty.
