Question about Toshiba e-STUDIO 4511 Printer

1 Answer

Toshiba 4511 printer with stapler...Want to staple "books" without printing and or have the thermistors to not turn on the IH coil for heat. Any way to run paper through without "heating" and just staple??

Not what I wanted to hear...Thanks...wayne

hmmm, seems we have found a solution...if you have the service manuals you can hold down 0 and 8, then start the machine...the code is almost on the bottom of the list...page 2-98. Change the energy setting to 40 degrees, both the black and color settings to 120 degrees as well as the standby setting.
This allows me to do the books without the smear...
    Thanks...wayne

Looks like it left off the previous comments...so I will try again.
The work around to the problem...
Turn printer off, hold down 0 and 8, and start printer.
On page 2-98 of the service manual you can enter 40 for energy, for both black and color you can set the temperature down from 180 degrees to 120 as well as standby. This keeps the pictures from getting too hot and will not smear, while letting the heat stay on and everything working normally...
    Thanks....wayne

No way without rewriting the software for the copier. Anytime paper is run thru the machine either when copying or printing the fuser temperature is going to be raised to the preset level for the paper type being used. The only way around this as I said would be to have software/firmware written for your machine which obviously is not practical or possible. The fuser temp is adjustable in the service mode but only a small amout higher or lower than factory. You certainly can turn the heat off.

Is there any work around? If I print only blank pages does the IC coil still heat? Is there any way of shielding the paper from getting hot? Currently the pages I am sending through have pictures and the printer smears the ink on the next copy. If it did not heat the paper everything would work great.
    Thanks...wayne

Yes the fuser still heats up even for blank copies/prints. Anytime the machine feeds and passes paper thru the machine it is going to bring the fuser up to the specified temp. There is no work around as this operation is programmed into the firmware of the machine. The only way would be to have someone re-write the firmware. This I am quite certain would be impossible to do and it would also render the machine useless as a copier/printer as the fuser would not heat up and thus not fix the toner onto the paper at all. It would just rub right off.

Sorry I do not have better news.

Great. I did mention in my first post that you could turn the heat down in the service mode. But did not elaborate as you were asking if the heat could be turned off, which it can not. Hope this all works out for you and Thank You for using Fixya.

Clear a code c430 on a toshiba studio e-282

C-430: Thermistor abnormality after abnormality judgment: Abnormality of the thermistor is detected after a specified period of time has passed from power-ON (including ready state).

You can try going into (08) mode by holding 0 and 8 while turning on the copier. Once the copier starts up key in 400 and press start, input "0" and press interrupt. Try rebooting the copier, if this doesn't clear that call for service then you are going to need to get work done on your fuser.

Call 4 service.. C-44

This error is a fixing unit heating fault.

Possibly a blown heater element, faulty thermistor, blown thermal fuse, or maybe a bad power supply.

You will need a service technician to fix this

Try replacing the thermal fuse in the fuser. Then reset your C41 by using the "08" mode, code 89, reset to 0. If that doesn't work, replace the thermistor and do the same procedure again.
