Question about HP PSC 750 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Paper jam error and no paper in site. what should I do?
When you have this happen it is either a failed sensor or paper dust or lint or a small piece of paper causing the error. Usually its not the sensor.
What you need to do is open the printer up and look for small bit of paper. These will be like little paper slivers, or may be dust from the paper (clay used in the paper making process or paper pulp). Usually just by opening the printer up and moving things around will dislodge the bit causing the problem and you won't see it. You can use a soft brush and the vacuum hose to 'dust' it out properlly.
You need to look at the complete paper path from when it comes out of the tray to where it sits on the tray. The problem usually will be around or near the rollers. If you have pulled out any jammed or stuck pages by hand then the chances are that you are looking for a piece of paper, if not its the dust buildup.
If after cleaning the error doesn't stop it may be the sensor or a board error which would require a trip to the repair depot to fix.
If the sensor or board has failed then this can get expensive to fix. The parts and labor could cost almost as much as a new printer. It is covered under warrenty if you have any left. If not then get a repair estimate and compare that to buying a new replacement.
