Question about Emerson Smartset Clock Radio

1 Answer

I have the clock radio with the dual theometer, one inside and one outside. I had to change the batteries in the outside transmitter and I can't get the clock radio to pick up the signal to reset. I can't find the instructions on what to do. Can you help?

Hi,

I can give you a link to an online PDF manual which you can view on you monitor or print. Please reply with the exact model; starts with CKS...CKT etc.

I could not find ANY info on this model, maybe you posted incorrectly? Anyhow I identified this product as CKS9051, is it so?

Please right click on the links below one by one and select "save-as" or "Save link as" depending on your browser and save these on th desktop. To view you need Adobe reader which can be downloaded free of cost.

    CKS9051_9031-page1-7_UL.pdf

    CKS9051_9031-page8-16_20090303.pdf(size about 5MB each)

Please go through each manual and I'm sure you will get your clock up and running in about 1 or 2 minutes. Good luck.

Could you give me the link to the web site so I can solve this problem and move on to the next?

  • sewlady777 May 30, 2010

I went to the link and these instructions do not have a theometer so there is nothing in the instructions that tell me anything. The model # is CKS9005BK

You can find all the Emerson clock radio models on this website. And the user manuals on this one.
Please note that although I do wish to assist you till your problem is solved (and in a reasonable amount of time) it seems that this product is probably outdated or available in only few regions. Due to this I am unable to find any useful information or product literature. At this point you may also want to consult other experts if you wish or try Emerson service center.

I have eight atomic clocks, none of them have the outside temperature working, all have new batteries???

If your outside temperature is not showing on your clock, that may mean that the clock and the transmitter have lost their connection. To reconnect them you must first take the batteries out of both of the units for 15 minutes. First put the batteries back into the transmitter, and then the clock. Let them sit side by side inside your home. When both the indoor and outdoor temperatures show on your clock with the same reading, or within two degrees of each other, then you may put your transmitter back outside. Remember to keep the transmitter out of the direct sun in a dry place. Also keep it away from metal, which can affect the readings.

Can't get outside temp on my atomic clock

If you still have the instructions read up on pairing the transmitter to the clock. You'll need to do that every time you change batteries on the outside transmitter. If you don't have those instructions , go to the clock's web page to get the manual for your model of clock.

How are the batteries replaced, in the transmitter first, then the clock?

Hi,
The transmitter for your radio controlled clock is the atomic clock in your region, I wouldn't advise trying to replace the batteries in it.
I am guessing you are talking about a remote wireless sensor supplied with your clock! Put good quality batteries in this and place it next to your receiver (your clock) while it registers and then you can place it outside or wherever you want it.

I changed the outside batteries and now don't have a temperature

you need to take the batteries out of your clock/themometer, wait a couple of minutes then put the batteries back in, the reciever should find your transmitter and indicate the outside temperature, if this is a clock you can set it. If its a "atomic" clock you can let it set itself

Outside temperature won't work

Also,

If you have lost the outside temperature on the clock display after replacing the transmitter battery then do the following:

1. Make sure you have good batteries installed in the remote transmitter
2. Remove the batteries from the main clock and keep them out until the clock display disappers.
3. Re-install the batteries in the clock.
4. Wait until the display returns and includes the outside temperature display as well.
5. Set the clock again for current time/date etc.
6. Bingo. You are in business.

Outside temperture

Try changing the batteries in the CLOCK. I had the same problem in a 3M similar clock and it didn't read the transmitter correctly or eventually, at all, when the CLOCK batteries were getting low.

Outside temp on skycam atomic clock

Try changing the battereis in the CLOCK. When the batteries in the clock start getting low, the clock does not pick up the outside transmitter.

Remote Sensor

make sure your time is set and the atomic clock time is recieved, then leaving the rear cover off of the transmitter, push the "tx" button not the "c/f" that is just for centegrade or ferenhight. you will see the red light on the front of reciever flash in a few seconds. The temp should display on your clock screen. If not, did the red l.e.d. light on transmitter flash. If not, its not sending data to clock. I have to reset and hit transmit every time I replace batteries on transmitter. Had no problems for over 2 years of using outside. If your not getting a reading with transmitter sitting next to clock after hitting "tx" button you may have defective transmitter.
