The ratio is 40:1, provided this is a gasoline homelite chainsaw. Find the suitable amount to put into the gas can at a ratio of 3.2 oz per gallon. The bottles that you buy the oil in have marks on them telling you how much there is, and often times, are sized to dump into a preset amount of gas. Put the oil in the can, then put the gas in the can, cap, and shake. Always shake before dispensing.

This is way too much for that saw. the ratio is 1 part oil to 40 parts of gas for a homelite chainsaw. The lower quality saw brands use this ratio. Ones like stihl use 1:50 even. It allows the engine to still run, while the oil stays behind to lubricate. You'll find that you saw will either not run, or have very little power, while smoking out the whole neighborhood if you're using 1:5. There are actually really helpful calculators out there free for use on the internet that tell you exactly how much you need for a certain amount of fuel.

What type of GAS and OIL need for the chain saw?

Hi gjoun...
You will need "Chain and Bar" oil to lube the chain and bar. Special oil made just to lubricate the chain and bar as the chain is running.
For the engine you can use the low grade of gasoline...and 2 cycle oil.
Fuel mix...50 to 1 = 1pint of 2 cycle oil to 6 gallons of gasoline.

What kind of motor oil is used in the chain saw. what kind of oil is used for the chain.

Hi justariblake...
You did not say if your chain saw was 2 or 4 cycle...

If it is 2 cycle...you will mix 2 cylce oil with gas at a ratio of 50:1...one pint 2 cycle oil per 6 gallons of gasoline.
If it is 4 cycle then you will use 10w30
On the bar and chain you will use bar and chain oil (a special oil made for chain saws)

Every chain saw uses as fuel a mixture of oil and gasoline. What is the correct mixture for a textron gasoline powered saw?

25:1 to 32:1

Start at 25:1. If it smokes too much or fouls a plug, go to 32:1 using a good grade 2-cycle oil.

What is the gas/oil mixture for the poulan wild thing chain saw please?

Use a quality 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil. Poulan recommends a good quality 2-cycle air-cooled oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1 (A 40:1 ratio is obtained by mixing 3.2 onces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline). When mixing fuel, follow the instructions printed on the container. Always read and follow the safety rules relating to fuel before fueling your unit.. Be Safe!

Always premix fuel and a modern synthetic saw oil in a separate can before use. Never run a 2-stroke saw engine without mixed fuel. Motorcycles use an oil injection pump that allows the burning of straight gasoline, but no one has come up with similar system for saws. Use 40:1 ratio fuel to oil. Hope this helps!

Oil & Gasoline

Hi Thomas, you can find bar oil for the chain at just about any hardware store. Just tell them you need chainsaw bar oil. The oil that mixes with the gasoline is called 2- cycle mix. They will have that also. You can find the 2- cycle mix at a lot of gas stations too but a lot of guys caution not to use the 2 - cycle mix that is made for outboard motors. . Hope that answered your questions.

Can't recall what fluid(s) to use.

The fuel is a combination of a good two cycle oil and regular gasoline at a 1:50 oil to gas ratio. Pour in half the gas first, add the oil, and put in the rest of the gas. It needs to be well mixed. (Do NOT use just motor oil)

Run a good bar oil, like Stihl bar oil in the oiler tank. Costs a tad more, but clings to the bar better than most.

Do you use gas in the oil with an electric chain saw?

NO, you only mix gas and oil with a gasoline chain saw, the electric all you need is a good bar oil for the chain and the electricity does the rest.

Chain saw emitted sparks and now does not start.

Hi

When the engine get warm and die(I suppose)check the spark at the sparkplug. You can let the saw run until it ran out of gas and you will not distroy the engine.Change the sparkplug.
