Hello,

Fan not running will cause the fresh food and the freezer sections not to work properly. If the condenser fan (the one under refrigerator) is not working, the compressor will cut off on the overload.
If the evaporator fan is not running, there will be no airflow to the freezer or the refrigerator.

The solution to this is to check to see if something is blocking the fan to prevent it from running.

If there is nothing blocking it then replace it.

Replacing this unit will solve the problem and both unit will function well after the replacement.

Take care.

    Hello,

I said if the fan on your refrigerator is not running, you check to see if there is nothing blocking the fan from running.

If after checking, and there is nothing blocking the fan from running, then it means the fan is faulty and will need to be replaced.

You will need to replace the fan on your refrigerator in other to make the work fine.

    Take care.

    Hello,

that solution does not hold for the problem with you refrigerator, i did not see your comment. the problem with your refrigerator is defrost problem.

Defrost problems can cause the fresh food section not to work. You
need to find out why it’s not defrosting. There are three things that
cause a defrost problem: defrost heater, defrost thermostat and defrost
    control.
If you have an older refrigerator, it probably has a
mechanical defrost control. Find it and turn it clockwise until the
refrigerator cuts off. (Note that the defrost control is normally
located either in the refrigerator near the cold control or at bottom
behind the kick plate). If your refrigerator is newer it will have an
electronic defrost control and you won’t be able to turn to defrost so
just continue without doing so. Now that it’s in defrost, wait a few
minutes. If the defrost heater gets hot, replace defrost control. If it
doesn’t get hot, then the problem is either the heater or the
    thermostat.
At this point, you need to melt the ice. The best way
to melt the ice is to use either a hair dryer or by using hot water
(this will be faster but will make a mess).
    Once the ice is gone,
you can check the heater by unplugging wires and using an ohmmeter

to check for continuity. If you have continuity, the heater is good and
    you should replace thermostat.

    Take care

It sounds like you have a iced up evap in the Fresh Food side so You need to clean all the ice near the top light and all from all the places.
Appart from this you should also get the thermistor checked and the frig fan. Doing this will fix the problem.

Let me explain you a bit more :
Just clean all the ice near by the ice box and near by the top light from all the places. If this doesnot resolves your problem you might need to replace the thermistor.

  • neildezone May 30, 2010

what is a thermistor and where might it be located

  • Jayant Jha May 30, 2010

If you don't know much about it in that case i think you should take help from an expert because these things are not easily replaced.
Just clean all the ice and see if it works for you.
    Good luck...

SOURCE: samsung RS2555SL NITHER FANS ARE

hello,it's the fan that brings air into the fridge that has frozen condensation on the refrigerator fan blade.the refrigerator uses a different fan each,so if you definitely check the refrigerator you will probably find ice build up round the fan blade. melt off with hot water, and you will have the refrigerator working as normal back.
wish you good luck,

take care.

Vegetables in crisper are frozen, as well as liquids in bottom 1/2 of fridge door. The fridge & freezer temp controls won't adjust to our settings. Also, we're getting ice, but no water will dispense.

The freezer cools the refrigerator, so you actually get very cold air passing from the freezer to the refrig. The air from the freezer enters the refrig on the top and falls to the bottom where it is drawn back into the freezer. The temperature of the refrig is regulated by a thermostat and a fan that runs when the thermostat calls for cooling. If the refrig thermostat is faulty and causes the fan to run more than it should, there will be a freezing problem in the refrig at the bottom because cold air falls and warm air rises. If the refrig is thermostat is calling for cooling constantly, this will take more cold air from the freezer than is normal. Your freezer temp might be higher than normal and the refrig will be colder then desired. If the fan from the freezer is running constantly I would suspect a bad refrig thermostat.

circuit board controling temp to both fridge and freezer is out. Could have been fried by an electrical surge or just a badcircuit board.

I just had (have?) this same problem. I called out the repair man and in the end he suggested that I buy a new fridge because of all the problems reported with my model (RS2555SL) on the internet. Anyway, after a while I heard what sounded like a fan trying to spin on the fridge side. I unplugged the unit, removed the inside back panel on the fridge side. The entire coils and the fan had iced over. I removed all the ice, plugged the unit back in and it is now working. I will still replace this unit because I probably only corrected the symptom but the problem remains.

I have a Domestic 2804 frig in my RV, The freezer works great but the frig part will not cool at all, can you help

All cooling takes place in the freezer. The refrig/fresh food side is a parasite, depending on cold air circulation from the freezer side. The fan in the freezer provides that circulation, and usually the freezer control setting determines how much air is moved into the refrig side.
If the fan is up to speed and the both controls are set in a middle position, the refrig side should be fine. if the problem continues, replace evaporator fan motor or clear the blockage preventing circulation (usually frost build-up from a defective defrost system part or blocked defrost drain).
