I have a pioneer dxt-x4869bt sterio do I need a certain hook up subwoofers

Unless your Pioneer has a dedicated subwoofer output or output for bass speakers the signal for subwoofers will need to be generated by either a passive or an active crossover from the regular speaker outputs and then the resulting output will probably need boosting by an additional amplifier if a passive subwoofer is to be used. An active subwoofer might not require the additional amplification.

I have a Jensen KS212 and I'm connecting it to a home theatre receiver direct to see if it works but nothing comes out of it. Does this mean the sub is not working or there's not enough power from...

Hi, welcome to FixYa..

Your subwoofer requires a seperate amplifier that has low pass filter in the pre out system, which means it will allow all low frequency signals from the input section of the amplifier/ crossover. Your receiver has combined signals of high, mid and midbass signals that will not be able to drive your subwoofer. That is the main reason why some receivers has "Subwoofer Out" to allow you to use "Active Subwoofer systems" (also known has self powered or has a built in amplifier w/ subwoofer)
For you to use your Subwoofer, it must have a seperate amplifier, connect it to Sub out of your receiver and from there you can hear the difference. Hope this helps.

Tryin to hook up a mtx electronic crossover rt-01a. i dont know how to hook it up

Your basic crossover is going to have a power (+) and ground (-). Your power wire goes to the battery, and your ground goes to the frame. You will need to hook up your RCA or speaker wires to the input side. Then hook the other two RCA connections to your amp.

Hi ive got like music playing through my 12 inch sub aswell as bass im pretty sure subs are just their for bass. ive changed RCA cables i dont know how many times new amp sub head unit and power n ground...

Hello..... I can help you with this problem. You need a crossover to remove all of the high and mid frequencies from the subwoofer. If you run the sub at "full range" (all frequencies), you will destroy the voice coil. If your amplifier has a crossover on it, put it in the "low pass" or "LP" setting. If your amplifier does not have a built in crossover, you will need to add one. A crossover can cost as little as $29 for an electronic one. This will fix your problem. If you have any other questions, just comment back and I will be glad to help you!

Dont know which is positive or negative on the back of my 10's

if you hook them up and they dont work then they are backwards. the model of sub that u have doesnt show positive or negative. it wont harm the speaker to hook it up backwards. just try it and see if it works.

Subs quit working its not the amp they were working fine

How do you know it's not the amp?  Have you tried hooking up good speakers to the same output terminals of the amp?

Speaker failure modes: Usually they fry, the foam surround disintegrates, or there's a bad internal wire connection/solder joint that fails. Subwoofers are designed to handle a lot of power and rarely fail.

There are three possibilities:
1) The signal isn't getting to the amp from the crossover.
2) The amp is toast.
3) The speakers are bad.

You don't tell me whether you have a separate amp for the subs with an external crossover, or whether you have one amp with internal crossover and separate internal amps and speakers outputs for subs and standard speakers, so I can't be more specific.

What you can do is:

Check all external connections, including the power connections.

Try substituting replacements for the patch (signal) cables to see if you have a bad cable.

Beyond this, it's pretty much up to a repair technician.

I have a Jensen A222HX amplifier. I want to hook a subwolder to it. How do I bridge the connection

Hello rcell66,

The Jensen A222Hx is an "old school" amp and the channels are probably not bridgeable. I'd recommend posting and/or researching your question on one of the "Car Audio" forums. Many of the members are old school trained and may even be able to locate a manual for Jensen's.

Hope this helps.

HI,have modle vm19311ts,,,,need to know what wires to hook to power to test,,,was a 2nd hand unit for sale,,,thank,s for any help

You'll want to power the red (switched ignition - the one that turns the system off when the key is off) and the yellow (constant 12V - used to maintain memory settings and tone settings when the car is off). Ground the black wire. This will allow you to power up the unit, although with no speakers hooked up you won't hear whether the internal amplifier works.
