We have the same exact problem.  900 for a grill that doesn't work  UGH

I have the same problem with this expensive grill. I repeatedly turn the knob left slowly until I hear the igniter click, but I can only get the right burner started after 15 minutes of clicking - very frustrating - especially with hungry guests. The grill is only 2 years old. Do I need new igniters or burners or both?

Good answer... but remember (if you have the regular burners on... The Rotisserie will not light.) 1. Cut all knobs off... Then push and hold in Rotisserie button as you turn to high.
2. Press ignition button, until you hear rotisserie ignite. 3. Keep holding in the rotisserie button until the thermostat realizes the gas is on and burning. (IT must get hot enough to keep gas flowing.) Hope that helps, Dave

Push and HOLD down the dial on the HIGH position while pressing the ignition button for at least 10 seconds.  I had the same problem until I just figured it out.  Happy Grilling!

Have a home depot ducane 5 burner. just replaced burner tubes. have never used the rotisserie burner on it before. it lights but won't stay lite after releasing knob...any suggestions? Thanks

Infrared burners requite that the gas control knob be held in for 2 minutes or so, to allow the thermocouple on the infrared burner to heat up completely. If it's windy were you are, the wind can blow the burner out, while trying to light it. That's why it has a thermocouple on it, to stop the gas if the burner goes out. All cooking on the rotisserie is doon with the lid/hood closed, at temperatures around 250 degrees F. Once the infrared burner turns bright red, release the control knob.

Hope this helped you to get it lit. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

None of my igniters on my 30400043 Ducane grill will light the burners. I've had a grease fire due to the burners rusting out and replaced the burners. The insulation on the wires to the igniters has...

As I tell customers, when they ask me, "How long will this grill last?" "That depends on well you take care of it with routine maintenance and cleaning."

The wiring for the electronic ignition and the spark ignitors are replaceable. The ignitor button or the "clicker" as you called is replaceable. But all you may to do, is change the battery inside the igniter button. To help you further, i have included a link to the Owner's Manual for your grill. It will have an exploded view of the parts, which should help you identify them by part number and order them from Ducane, if you like.

A far as the infrared burners are concerned, they blow out easily if the wind is just blowing slightly. That's why they have a thermocouple on the burner, to turn the gas off to it, when it gets blown out. When preheating an infrared burner, the hood/lid of the grill should be closed.

I hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a stainless steel Ducane BBQ with five burners plus side burner and a rottisserie burner , which does not work. It is approx 5 years old and I have never used the rottisserie till last week. I have...

Since you've never used it. It may simply be a case that the infrared rotisserie burner is dirty and clogged with grease from cooking on the main burners. In addition, the Thermocouple and the igniter for that burner may also have a grease build up. In which case it won't allow the burner to light.

The electronic igniter that lights the main burners, also ignites the the rotisserie burner. Are you geting the click noise on the main burner igniters? If not, the battery in the igniter button needs to be replaced. Be sure to take note of the way the old battery is facing, when you unscrew the igniter cap. Because, that's the way the new battery should face.

Also, try match lighting the rotisserie burner. To do this, turn the Rotisserie Burner's Control Knob to the ON position and push it in, as you touch the lit match to the burner. If the burner lights continue to hold the burner knob in for a couple of minutes. This allows the Thermocouple and the ceramic plaques to heat up completely. Then slowly release the burner knob and the burner should remain lit.

If it doesn't stay lit, clean the burner and the Thermocouple ,in the manner that is described in your Owner's Manual.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

One burner wont light of the 3

Is the igniter not sparking or is gas not getting to that burner? Have you tried to match light that burner? Those three things is where you start troubleshooting the problem

If the igniter is not sparking, it could be that the igniter is covered with cooking grease or the wire to the igniter has come loose either at the igniter or the igniter module. And simply needs to be reattached (pushed back on).

If the burner won't match light, than it's not getting gas and should be removed and thoroughly cleaned. And while you're at it, remove and clean all the burners and the venturis valves.

Removing the buner burners on a Ducane grill is a bit of a task, so I have included a link to your Owners Manual to assist you. Pay particular attention to the section Annual Maintenance, starting on page # 28.

Burner igniters spark but do not ignite the burners. Do I need to replace them or is there some way to clean something. Also, the rotisserie burner will not ignite, and it has never been used.

All the ignitors work (spark), but none of the burners light ... is usually caused by and inadequate gas supply. Since you didn't didn't mention what the grill is fueled by (Natural Gas or Propane Gas), I going to assume it's Propane. So, turn the propane tank valve to OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank, Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow) , until it's fully open. Try lighting the burner farthest from the tank first. If it lights properly, turn the burner knob to the highest setting and continue to light the remaining main surface burner(s) the same way. If all lightt and the flame height is as it should be, you solved the problem. If it doesn't, either your tank is empty or the grill hose/regulator assembly needs to be replaced. You can purchase one from any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills. Take your old one with you for comparison.

If it's fueled by Natural Gas, make sure the gas line shutoff valve is turned ON all the way.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem.

The ignitor wire to the burners my have come loose or has lost full contact. Trace the wiring from the Ignitor Button to the main burners. Note if it loose or has come completely off. Also, check inside the grill at each burner to see if the ingnitors are covered with grease. If that's the case, clean them with alcohol and either a rag or a cotton ball. If all this fails to solve your problem, change the battery in the Ignitor Button with a brand new Alkaline type battery.

Hope this helps solve your problem. Happy Grilling!

Rotisserie burner won't light

It could be a dirty or inop spark electrode. Also could be weak batteries in the spark igniter.

Before you start you should make sure that the ignition system has fresh batteries. The batteries are usually located within the igniter button but not always. Some BBQs will have a battery pack located somewhere on the BBQ and others you can remove the igniter button by turning it left to reveal the battery.

First verify that the rotisserie burner can be lit manually. Take a BBQ lighter or long stick match and then put the flame right at the base of the burner where the electrode is and then slowly turn on the burner valve. It should light within four seconds. If it does not then shut the burner off and check for any restrictions in the gas line for the burner.

If it does light with a match then the spark electrode could be dirty, out of position or simply the wire for the ignition system is loose. Press the igniter button and watch the electrode for a good bright spark at the burner. If you do not see any spark you can verify that the igniter wire has not come loose and also gently adjust the position of the electrode end a little bit closer to the burner using a pair of needle nose pliers(It should not be touching the burner). It does not need to touch the burner but have a really small gap.You can use a small wire brush to gently clean the electrode of any debris that might be causing a weak or no spark

If you are unable to remedy the non-spark issue all is not lost. You can still use the manual lighting procedure I described to light the burner. And remember to be careful when trying these procedures. I do not want you to get injured from delayed gas ignition. Be careful and have a safe holiday.

Does conversion from LP gs to Natural gas on Ducane 30400040 (essentially makes it a model 30400041) require changing the inlet orofice on the IR burner ? I purchased conversion kit that included all new...

Did the conversion kit give you an LP orifice for every new gas valve? LP gas orifices have smaller holes than Nat gas orifices. Can you smell gas when you turn on the IR burner by itself? Some burners styles have an air adjustment on the end that fits over the orifice. Make sure it's getting enough air. Also make sure your ignitor sparker is positioned where the spark can ark against the top of the burner. Ducane grills have rotary ignitors, so turn it (with gas off) and see if you can actually see where it's sparking. If it's not sparking in the right place, it will be difficult to light.
