If you can recall invoice and you have not yet batched/settled your cards, just void the invoice and it will refund the amount to the card.

If you have settled the cards and cannot recall invoice, ring up a sale to a non-inventory item, do a price change to the negative amount of sale, and then charge this to the card. It will refund this amount to the card.

Make sure security settings will not let your employees ring up negative amounts or they could start refunding to their own card.

The refund you received should've been credited to your bank account. Some stores do allow you to receive the money from your refund in the form of a gift card.

You need to contact your bank if its a debit/credit card or contact you credit card card company if its a credit card. By law they have to help you.

I need to refund a transaction using just the original receipt. Customer not present and do not have the credit card.


do not refund in cash
refunds should only be made back into the credit card on which the purchase was made and the original receipt presented by the person who made the purchase
many businesses want photo id and a signature on the refund docket as well
It is a common scam for people to find a receipt then want cash for the refund

39.99 was refunded to my paypal account. where does it show up and what do i do ,leave it for credit or receive it back?


Your PayPal account is connected to either your credit card or your bank account. You have the option of keeping your refunded money in your PayPal account--where it can be used by you later as a credit toward a future purchase--or you can have it moved to your credit card that is associated with your PayPal account.
If you do nothing, the refunded amount will stay in your PayPal account. If you wish to withdraw it from PayPal and credit it back to you credit card, you have to log on to your PayPal account and follow the instructions. It should show a balance of $39.99, and give you options regarding what you want to do with it.

  1. Log in to your PayPal account.
  2. Click Activity at the top of the page.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select Refunds.
  4. Select the desired dates.
  5. Click View.
  6. Click Details next to the refund.

If you paid with your credit card, the money will go back to your card. (It can take up to 30 days for the refund to appear on your card statement.) If you paid with your PayPal balance or bank account, the money will be returned to your PayPal balance.

Pending: If your refund status is Pending, it means that the seller issued your refund but the money hasn't arrived from the bank yet. It usually takes 3-5 days for the money to arrive.

Refunded or Partially Refunded: If your refund status is Refunded or Partially Refunded, it means that the refund is complete. The money should be back in your PayPal balance or on your credit card.
Temporary hold: If your refund status is 'held', it means the transaction was refunded before it has cleared your bank. This process takes 3-5 business days to complete, and the refund will be credited to your balance once the process is completed.

Mike,
Although it is too late, never let a company make changes to another company's software without the other company's OK. You should be able to reverse any changes they made. If they loaded a patch to RPE, it will be listed in programs as CRE something. Uninstall it. Thyis will take you back to your original RPE setup. If they made changes to your RPE setup, a restore of a recent backup will get you back to square one. if you need more in depth help, send me an email.

I am trying to set up my First Data FD100 credit card machine to work with RPE, but am having problems doing so.


I don't think this machine will work within RPE. You should verify this with the vendor that sold you RPE. However, you can set RPE to manually accept credit cards and swipe them seperately with the FD100. Everything will report OK, it just takes more steps and more receipt slips.

Or you can set RPE to process with First Data and buy an MSR to attach to PC to swipe cards. Much quicker process and only RPE receipt(s).

If I were you I would call best buy direct.They are in better position to answer your question.
