Sounds like you ran it with the choke on - best bet is to take the carburetor apart and make sure the float isn\'t suck and clean it out. Take out the spark plug and spray it with carb cleaner and dry it - wipe out the spark plug area. Reinstall the plug and carb. Give it a pull a few times let it run then adjust the throttle to the lowest setting and then back to the desired operating speed. Listen to the engine you should be able to hear the choke cut off when you adjust the throttle.
Have you installed all of the smart updates for the software. I believe that it is currently at update 8.3.1. If you're not sure, make sure that your computer is connected to the internet, open the desktop icon that gets you to the folder that holds the components of 4D, double click on "Configure" and then select "Smart Update". The software will check what you have on your computer, connect to the Husqvarna Viking server and ask you to log in to your user account, then any update that you have not run will be in a list to download and installed. That is always the first step to solving a run-time environment error.Let me know if you have problems after installing all updates.
I admit I did not think that VIP Customizing worked on Vista at all, but I now know that some people have got it going. Have you searched the www.sewmuch4retirement.com website (the late Jan Henning's website, which is an absolute gold mine of information for Husqvarna and Pfaff machines)? The other solution might be to partitition your hard drive and run Win XP on one partitition, and use that to install and run VIP Customizing. There are also Yahoo Groups specializing in Husqvarna machines and products. These groups have a lot of members with a wide range of machines, software and experience. I'm sure there is someone out there with a similar problem and someone else with the answer.
The Topaz 30 is a relatively new machine and should still be under Viking's warranty if you bought it new from an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Suggest you take it back to an authorized dealer--preferably the one where you bought it. The machines have a 5 and 20 year warranty for parts, etc. Most dealers will give you a 6 months to 1 year warranty if you bought it from them. There have been a couple of software updates released for this model. You can find more information at the husqvarna viking website. By clicking on the "Dealer's" link you can find the nearest authorized dealer. http://www.husqvarnaviking.com
Probably need to re-adjust the carburetor jets. They are very small screws in the base of the carburetor. They will be labeled with an "H" and an "L" . Set the low speed first by turning it in slowly until the rpm drops slightly then start turning it outward untill the engine idles smoothly. At that point you can also adjust idle speed. Then you need to be careful here but you need to hold the throttle wide open at the same time adjusting the high speed jet. Turn it in until the rpm drops then slowly turn it out. The rpm will keep increasing. Once you get to a point where it is max'ed out then screw the jet back in one half a turn. Changes in altitude like using your chainsaw in town versus going to the mountains for firewood can sometimes make it necessary to adjust the fuel/air ratio.
i have a husqvarna rose, i has the same problem when i started using my machine. i was suggested to not wind the bobbin so fast. the reason it gets stuck is because the thread is so tight on the bobbin it actually makes the bobbin a tiny bit smaller, making it hard to get off again. if you dont wind it so fast, it doesn't get so tight.
