Question about Canon PIXMA MP170 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I propped open the unit, cleaned the black rolls off with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. Then It printed like there was never an issue. My roll did have white dust all over it.
I had the same problem with the right side pulling and jamming.

Low-cost paper use can lead to this problem and all other problems with the accuracy of the paper feed.
Fibers from cheap paper can build up on the soft rubber rollers, reducing their ability to grip the paper.
Cleaning the drive rollers aggressively with a 'rubber rejuvenator'
(Blow Off - http://computergang2000.stores.yahoo.net/bloffruresp.html )
and applied to a hard-surface cloth or paper towel can restore the lost grip.
If you are close to a supplier to the copier trade you would find it there also.
I don't recommend spraying the stuff as it can damage plastic.
