Question about Emerson Pool & Spa

1 Answer

My (fairly new) pool pump motor (2hp Emerson 1081 pool pump) continually "trips out" during its daily cycle. Once I leave it switched off for 10-15 minutes it will then run again, but trip off after 10 minutes or so. Why is this and what can I do to fix it?

I suppose it trips at the fuse? I had a similar problem with my motor and it turned out to be the main fuse was of lower wattage than the wattage of my stuff combined(AC, Fridge etc.,). Check how many watts the motor is off (usually 15-20) and upgrade the fuse with that of a higher wattage.

Thanks but this does not appear to be the problem. I am assuming (please correct me if I'm wrong) that by "main fuse" you mean the breaker that the pump is wired to. The breaker is not tripping, the pump/motor itself is and the breaker is of sufficient capacity.

Emerson pool spa pump leaking water-how to change gaskets

Emerson is not the name of the pump, that's the brand of the motor attached to the wet end, and the two together make a pump.
1081/1563 only means that it meets the standards for a pool motor.
provide make and model, for your pump.

Emerson 1081

The 1081 is the designation for a motor that can run continuously (all pool pump motors have that). The motors are generally not cost effective to be repaired.

But, if you are looking for is the manual for the PUMP, see if you can see any identification on the part of the pump that the motor is attached to. Then it should be easy to find.

I have an Emerson 1081 Pool Pump Motor , every time I turn it on it trips the circuit breaker , is the motor bad ?

Well, something is wrong. Either the pump or the wiring from the switch to the pump. Pull the pump and take it to a motor shop and have them check it out.
