Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

HP 3310 All-In-One Photosmart Scanner Failure

I have the HP 3310 all in one and it has been perfect. Two weeks ago I updated my Kaspersky Internet Security (may be unrelated) and since then, I have had a total scanner failure. When I turn it on I get the error message both on the front panel of the printer and my PC that the scanner has failed and to power cycle and try again. THis does not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled until I am crazy! The tube on the scanner is not illumintaed.

Right before it failed, I could make one B&W copy, then it failed, I was able to make one color copy, and then it has been out ever since.

I have also reset the manufactuer settings, with the help of HP, no luck.

This is quite frustrating as I have been on the phone with both Kaspersky and HP, and the only solution is that "printers are disposible, upgrade to a new one". Yeh, that's fine if your last name is Rockefeller. I paid $500 for that printer, and it is a big part of my office. Now I have no fax machine, copier or scanner, just a very expensive printer.

PLEASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEE! If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I am just sick over it!

    Okay, I have tried read the forum and tried the various "reset" combinations, and it still does not work. However, I was able to see the the bulb is still working (lit). It's like the scanner bulb tries to set itself, but only gets a little way and then stops and goes back, then the "scanner failure" message. I am going to the hardware store to buy the Torx 4 screwdriver (of course, my husband doesn't have that one!!) and take the glass off and clean it. It is very cloudy underneath.



    I hope someone out there has another fix!! Thanks!

    Each time I try to send a fax I get scanner failure...how can I correct this, I can make copies and print and reciever faxes...

Rob mate,

i have the same HP three in one and i know its a pain on the back side, when you cant make them work and i have experienced a problem with my machine as well in the past.

I can give you one advise, please go to HP side and download new driver for this.I think its not the machine but the driver itself, which can easily be corrected by downloading a new one from HP web site.

It might be because of your Kaspersky internet security (however i doubt it), but it might have played around with few of HP files.

Do let me know , if you manage to sort it out !

You will need to reset the hardware and cable connections, try updating the firmware of the printers if it doesnt work then its the main board thats casuing the issue...replace it

When attempting to scan document or copy a document on Photosmart all in one seriers I receive an error message "Scanner failure unable to scan or copy"


try to remove and re install driver, and look into device manager if scanner detected. if not restart you pc and when found new hardware popup browse driver manually.

Have a hp 3310 it says ink system failure error 0xc18a0106 it wont print,scan,copy and it does have enough ink. thank 4 ur help


Turn off the machine using the power button, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, then replace the ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error then you may need to re-prime ink through the system to clear the error. Carriage Belt is worn and slipping 3310 HP. Where do I purchase?


The 3310 parts are not distributed anymore.

This is one of biggest sellers, and does not have any part listed for 3310:HP Photosmart Printer Parts.

The only option is grabbing spares from Ebay, like this one below:

Printer problems for HP Photosmart 3310


Try running antispyware and virus program to eliminate this, housecall is online, thorough and free. It removes it too. Try and see if updating the actual drivers help off HP website. Check settings to see if it is not accidentally set to only print test page or to work offline or similar, uncheck tabs if they are.
