I have a dell latitue D 620 running XP Pro I called Dell when it crashed and they wanted to charge me 199 $ to walk me through a factory restore. What a laugh !!Dell is confusing because you dont see any progress on the restore. Fierst you need to look up in the right top off your screen to know what F key to use. Mine was F2, you want to boot up and when you see the Dell screen. Start tapping your F2 keythis will bring up a blue screen with lots of choices.. all you need is to pick Maitenance open it, you well see Load Defaults. Press enter this will take you to cancel Dont choose that use you arrow keys to go to Continue. Then hit enter after you hit enter Load Defaults will turn green. Thats what you want. Let it run 1/2 hr to an 1hr. when ready hit escape and save changes . Waning once you do this you shouuld have your dell like it came out off the box. You will lose any pics or downloads. Im giving my Dell away HP or Acer is a much better sytem. I hope I just saved you 199$ Best of luck.

Want to restore to factory settings. running windows 7 ultimate

Anonymous,
There are a couple of ways to Restore the system to the factory image. It depends on the system. Some older systems you would start the computer and press CNTRL+F11 and choose to restore. Other systems you would start the computer and TAP the F8 key and choose "Repair Your Computer" and follow the prompts to restore. Newer systems use a program called Dell Datasafe Local Backup accessed from the F8 advanced menu.

How do i restore my dell latitude c600 to its factory settings

The Dell Latitude C600 is an older Dell laptop computer. This particular model came with Windows XP pre-installed on it. If you are experiencing problems with your computer, or you want a fresh start with your Dell, you can restore the laptop to factory settings. This process removes all of the data saved on your computer and resets all of the settings back to the way they were when you first purchased the computer.

Instructions:

Step 1
Turn off your computer if it is currently on.
Step 2
Turn on your computer. When the Dell splash screen appears, hold down "CTRL" and "F11" on your keyboard. Release both keys at the same time.
Step 3
Click "Restore" in the "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" window. Click "Confirm" when you are warned that all data will be lost.
Step 4
Allow the system to restore and wait for the message that says "The system recovery process was successful." This can take about 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 5
Click the "Finish" button and your Dell Latitude D600 is restored to factory settings.

How do i restore to factory settings without disk?

I assume you mean factory installation. You need the disks. Unless there is a recovery partition, unlikely on this model. Alternatively you could find an oem windows xp home or professional depending on what coa sticker is on the laptop and install that.

Dell latitude d620 needs factory restore

Apparently your model of laptop doesn't have a recovery partition. You're going to have to get out the Dell Operating System CD for your laptop, boot to the CD and reinstall Windows the old fashioned way. Make sure the product key on the laptop case is handy.
