1zenith supersport 286e how to get to it - moz-screenshot.jpgmoz-screenshot-1.jpgI can give you the basic idea of what you need to do.
I heard fro a guy who was NOT technical that he replaced the battery in a Zenith Superspot 286
(and it was not a problem)

If your computer is losing its time or date settings, or you are receiving a message:
CMOS Read Error,
CMOS checksum error, or
CMOS Battery Failure
first attempt to leave the computer on for 24 hours. In some cases this can charge the battery and resolve your issue. This often resolves CMOS battery related issues when a computer has been left off for several months.

If this does not resolve your issue follow the below steps.

Open the computer case and find the battery on the computer MotherBoard verify that it will be accessible and that it can be removed.
Most computers today use a coin 'cell' CMOS battery as shown in the image below.

How to remove bios password for laptop (acer aspier 4715z) model

Usually on any laptop generally you have to disconnect (remove) the cmos battery inside the laptop inside. It can be a pain taking apart the laptop but that's the only way. Sometimes it is easier on newer desktops because they have a reset password jumper but on laptops you'll take the cmos (coin battery) out, wait 5 minutes and then re-insert. Good luck!!!

Please rate and comment!!!

I have an Averatec 5400 laptop. It will not hold its cmos settings. Everytime it boots up it reverts to January 2003 and I have to reset the settings. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to replace the CMOS battery. This will be under a "Flap" under the laptop. It is a small round thin Cell. 3.6 v similar to a Watch battery. link below to see what I mean. http://www.alllaptops.co.uk/Cmosbatt/Averatec.htm

BIOS reset

By resetting the CMOS battery all you need to do is to teardown your laptop and have to remove and reinstall the CMOS battery. And for the replacement of the CMOS battery of your Samsung laptop just call SAmsung technical support so that they can give you the exact model of the CMOS battery and where you can have the battery. Thank you.

How do I replace a dead cmos on acer 4520LCi travelmate laptop? The laptop no longer keeps track of system time when shut off completely. Can you tell me the exact location of the cmos so I can be able to...

Hi,

what you replace is not the CMOS, but the CMOS battery.

On an ACER from those years the CMOS battery looks like a coin, or a coin wrapped in plastic and connected to the motherboard.

On most models from same series the battery is located on the lower side of the motherboard, like on picture below:

On some model the battery may be located underneath the keyboard.

Here disassembly instructions for a similar model.
