Question about HTC G1

Open Question

My G1 isn't even 2 years yet and it will not master reboot at all the touchscreen will not even move now.Is there any fix? My warranty is up and i do not want to get a new G1 because they are now discontiued. They have been replaced with the My Touch Slide due out June 2. So unfair that they tear up now they have been discountinued and I cannot afford to get anything else. My warranty is up and I do not want to file an ins claim as I just went through so much with T-mobile on Insurance(seriously).

Reset your device by following steps the issues would get fixed.

1.Power off the phone.
2.Press and hold Vol+ key and Power key simultaneously until several blue sentences appear on the screen which are reboot system now; apply update from sdcard; wipe data/factory reset; wipe cache partition.
3.Use Vol+ key and Vol- key to move the cursor to "wipe data/factory reset" and press camera key to confirm it.
4.There are many words "No" and one sentence "Yes -- delete all user data". Use Vol+ key and Vol- key to move the cursor to "Yes -- delete all user data". Press camera key to confim it.
5.The phone will finish the reseting by itselft after about 10 seconds later and then the cursor will be on "reboot system now" and press camera key to confirm it. The phone will reboot automatically. There is no unlock and password any more after the phone is on.

Replaced freewheel hub body on rear wheel ultegra wh-6600, cannot get wheel running, freehub will not run smoothly, even LBS cannot fix and have no ideas. Wheelset only 2 years old and cost 350 quid....

If the lbs can't fix it you could send it back to the manufacture. They will fix it. But keep in mind that if it isn't under warranty it might cost more to fix than replace. Good luck.

How do you troubleshoot if the garmin gps suddenly just don't want to turn on even if it is plugged on the charger?

Try a "Master Reset" on your StreetPilot c550:

Power the StreetPilot off (ensure that it is not connected to external power)
Touch-and-hold your finger in the lower right corner of the Touchscreen...
Power the StreetPilot on...
Continue to hold your finger there until "Erase all user date?" appears...
Remover finger from the Touchscreen...
Touch "Yes"

If this doesn't work check to see if your item is still under warranty. If not I can provide you with a place that fixes gps' relatively inexpensively. Hope this helps.

My HTC G1 won't turn on. Last year my G1 turned off out of no where...the battery wasn't low or anything. It wouldn't turn back on when I held the power button. Even when I pluged in the power charger the...

Most probably there is a lose contact which heats up and deforms during usage, or can be deformed with the slightest pressure in your hands - therefore it can be switched on only when it either cools down and your press it in some particular way. Or both simultaneously.
This problem will never fix itself - ff you really want to use your phone and trust that it will work, you should ask a repairman to fix it.
Is the warranty period still lasting? Then you should ship it back to the dealer/manufacturer. First you will be required to cover the shipping costs, but you should arrange that they refund these costs if they find out that the problem with phone was not your fault. That's because consumer law in any civilized country states that the seller shall cover all expenses related to warranty service repair if it wasn't your fault, but you should cover all costs if the problem was caused by you.
If the nearest HTC warranty service is far away, and you don't want to spend long time to have it fixed - then it might be more useful to find a repairman in your proximity (unofficial repair services are usually quite cheap).

You cant fix it. This has happened to me before and several other people, your phone is defective, if it is within the first year of purchase HTC or Tmobile will gladly replace it for you as they did with mine. I have tried even doing a factory restore and it appears to be a hardware problem so it is out of your hands. Sorry I wish I had a better answer for you.

If you can't get a replacement under warranty there is both an T-Mobile G1 Repair Guide and a third party T-Mobile G1 Repair Service, If you try a self-repair make sure you feel comfortable with opening devices like that.

G1 touch screen not working

my workaround is to charge with a different power source, or stop charging. i think it's the power source. for me, the touchscreen goes crazy when i'm charging via usb with this old computer, but it's fine when i stop charging. it's probably an unclean power source messing with the capacitance sensor.
