Question about Electronics - Others

1 Answer

1998 Coleman Mesa camper and there is no power going to the refrigerator or the GFIC outlet. Can't trace wires back to the origin to see if there is a CB or fuse. Checked wires with a meter and they are not carrying 120V. Does anyone know where the physical point of wire origin is? I can not find any visible CB panel or Fuse panel on this camper. We do have power to the opposite side of the camper.

I have a coleman gen. 6500 voltage at meter but not at the outlet

First check to see if your gen has a tripped GFCI that needs to be reset at the outlet. If it's not a GFCI outlet, it's possible you may have a disconnected or broken wire going to the outlet. You'll need to trace the wiring back to the meter..

2008 camper. fridge keeps switching over to gas. Turned it off & back on, it goes back to AC. The camper is plugged into a 50amp outlet & all else works fine.

Check your fuses and circuit breakers to see if any are tripped or blown. If you are handy with a test meter you can check for power at the refrigerator control panel. There will be a vented cover outside behind your fridge and there are two leads going to a heating element. You can check for power or continuity through the element.

Wiring diagram for Heartland 2013 Key Largo

Wiring diagrams are not available as the manufacturers to not publish them. You have to determine which circuit the outlets are on and then from there determine the outlet prior to the failed outlet and trace back from there until you identify the point of failure. Most trailers are wired with GFI outlets with the primary GFI being in the bathroom or the kitchen and all outlets wired after that point are controlled by that one primary. If you do not have power go to the primary and press the reset button.

Florescent ceiling light on the garage ceiling will not go on

If the GFIC trips all outlets wired from it will lose power also. Check your wiring. You should also remove switches from the circuit containing outlets.

Don't have power to 120v recpt. on dometic rm 2862 ref

Go to your breaker box inside the RV. Locate the breaker that is for the refrigerator. It may have tripped but still looks as if it is on. Turn it off then back on. It should click and stay firm in the on position. Now check your outlet for power. Either use an outlet tester or a portable radio. If you have power but the refrigerator is still not working you will also need to check the 12vdc power supply. The refrigerator must have 12volts to operate even when in AC mode. There is a wire from the 12vdc connection block that goes to a thermal switch on the heat riser tube to the right. That wire has an inline diode and if the diode has failed it will not allow the refrigerator to work and like wise if the thermal switch has tripped it will shut the unit down. The switch is resettable. The diode wire, if bad, will have to be replaced. If you do not have 110vac power at the outlet after resetting the breaker you will need to remove the outlet and inspect it for bad connection or broken wire and then trace the wire back to the breaker box until you find the point of failure. You will also want to check the ground bar in the breaker box and make sure the neutral wires are properly seated and tight.

I have a 1994 Carri-Lite 633RKS camper with electrical problems

The clicking your hearing from the AC is probably just the 12 volt side of the circuit to run the AC, but it does indicate that the controls/thermostat is doing it's job, but doesn't sound like hydro is getting to AC as well as microwave. I can't imagine those being on the same circuit as far as breaker panel goes, but who knows what might have been done before you got it, unless bought new. Do you by any chance own a plug in circuit/receptacle tester, or anything like that to test for power? In the meantime, make sure AC is in off mode, then go to breaker panel & push breakers for microwave & AC, all the way off hard, then try to reset it & tell me what happens.
