Hello there:
the red wire is going to be a switched hot that turns off with the ignition key and the yellow is going to be a constant hot for you're memory for you're preset stations and clock you can run them together and make them both a constant hot you will just need to remember to turn the stereo off manually so it doesn't run your battery down... hope this helps you out

I need to know were the yellow wire gos dose it go to the red or blue for a pioneer car stereo?

The yellow wire on a car stereo head unit is usually the keep alive 12+, which allows the stereo's memory to be set and kept. It should be connected to a constant 12+ volt source.

I have a jvc kd-r431 am having to keep setting my settings everytime I turn the car on, it's not holding its mem

Its the wiring of the JVC. I've had the same problem but now know the solution. Take out the stereo and disconnect the wiring from the car and the stereo. The connector has two wires Red and Yellow. Pull them apart and connect both as Red with Yellow (or other way round). Once your done all you have to do is reconnect everything and there you have it. Hope this helps

I installed an older used stereo. I found the red wire is power, the black is ground, What is the yellow wire with the 5amp in line fuse for

The Yellow is your Ignition wire, It controls the stereo power when the vehicle is on/off. It can be spliced with the red wire, however I wouldn't suggest it unless all other options have been used.

generally wiring from the car is as follows...

red = ignition controlled live
yellow = permanent live

if you want stations saved and manual switch off of uni connect radio's yelow and red wires to the cars yellow.

if you want stations saved and radiounit switch off controlled by ignition (i.e only when car is running) then yellow to yellow and red to red. anything else will cause issues...

Just installed jvc kd-s16 and it loses power after 5 seconds. Used proper wiring harness and installed in 1996 f150

Connect Yellow to Battery (always 12V), red to ignition, and black to ground. Disconnect all others. Check it. If the radio stays on and plays CD, then radio is good. You may check other wiring

Doesn't keep memory

DIKA, first step - check your stereo batt backup wire , you must connect that direct or continues voltage from accu. Don't switch this wire, you can check if your car in off position , this  wire must still have voltage +12v - +14v if no voltage check your fuse near batt backup wire. Why that wire must have voltage,that's because the voltage used for backup your stereo memori. OK good Try , Fixya and Don't forget to vote me, thank's
