I just bought a brand new Brother XL 2600I and it was working great for the first day , next morning i change the thread to actually sew not just test strips . I keep getting bunches of thread or if i

Most likely your top thread is not threaded correctly. Unthread and rethread. Check with your manual to make sure you have threaded correctly. Thread bunching up on bottom indicates top thread is threaded wrongly.

Where do i fix the tension at? i understand there is a top and bottom but i just dont understand. The thread keeps getting bunched up. It sews good for a bit then it just bunches up and i dont know what...

why dont you visit this website and read up some of the general info on sewing machines, should help you get started.

Usually you should only need to adjust the top tension a little bit for different fabrics but generally it should be fine on 5. Bottom tension is set by a little screw on the bobbin case (if yours is a removable front loading type) or sometimes a little dial if fixed horizontal bobbin case design. If machine has been set up correctly from new then bottom tension should not need to be touched at all.

It sounds more like your machine is not threaded properly, causing the thread bunching up to occur. If you don't have a manual you may find a threading diagram at or, the Singer website has instruction manuals for download free for many models.

It sounds like you may be a beginner sewer, in which case, I highly recommend taking a few classes to learn how to best utilise your machine and save lots of frustration too.

My boobin "casing" is not

I use a metal #15 bobbin, and I seem to have no problems as I had with the 15j plastic. Make sure that you are seating the bobbin case correctly, you should feel it click in the machine securely, you have a vertical bobbin on this machine so it is a little trickier. Another thought is to go to JoAnn fabrics and let them demonstrate a Singer Simple 3116 for you. If, you bought from them, they may offer free lessons,

Bottom sitch skips and gathers and when I use reverse it gathers up. I have changed needle, thread and boobin, I have also cleaned and oiled boobin area.

Either your bobbin tension is wrong or, your needle isn't the right length for your machine. The bobbin tension is adjusted by the little screw on the side of the bobbin holder.

Thread is bunching up on the bobbin side

Check out this site. All the Q&A answers in simple language, as well as a GREAT cust. support staff. (its a Brother after all!)

I think you might be using the wrong size needle, or thread for the material you are sewing... but the site might have a few more options.
Good luck and Happy sewing!
