Check that the + and - for the power button connecting to the MB is correct. If everything is new, it is possible the board is DOA (happens).

My monitor is properly connected to power supply and to the cpu . However, it will display turns totally blank. Light off the power switch remains on though.

This is a common issue with the VA1912 units. The black screen is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power supply board. You can replace the capacitors and the monitor will be as good as new. Here is a link to some information on the capacitors needed to build the power supply board.

Screen comes on then goes blank after 1 or 2 seconds

Hello NDK, use first an alternate monitor, and see if the problem is your DELL. If the alternate monitor works fine on your computer. then your DELL has power supply problems, this can be repaired by replacing the power supply board with a new one or a refurbished board. find one online or try ebay for the board. If you can do the replace thing, you need to disassemble the unit. if you cant, pay for service.

Systemax Ascent HA3200 RTS won't boot - fans come on - no display

The motherboard seems OK as it is displaying signs of life. The Monitor should display something before booting up, which it is not. Please do the following. 1. Remove the RAM and reinsert the DIMMs into their sockets and boot up. 2. Disconnect the HDD data cable from the HDD and the motherboard and reconnect. Boot up. 3. Disconnect the monitor and reconnect. Boot up. At boot up press F2 and set the PC to default settings. Boot up. Later when you want to apply your settings, keep noting down what you did when. Just in case.

When I re-boot my PC, my monitor blinks on and off

It's normal behaviour - it blinks because during boot the pc starts with the default VGA driver, then unloads it (the monitor shuts down as the video card is disabled) then load the appropriate video driver (the monitor starts up again as the video card is activated properly).

Screen works as normal then it just goes blank. Checked connections all firm. Fiddle with scarts and by luck comes back on. When screen is black there is flickering in background and on/off button keeps...

rjmd1, Will unit do same when using standard vga input from a PC? You may need to "tear-down" unit to inspect the unit's switch-mode-power-supply and ccfl inverter circuits for bad (frosty looking) solder joint connections where the leads of the electronic components(active and passive) are soldered to the printed circuit boards and check the electrolytic filter capacitors for swollen tops of their aluminum can housings. If unit produced in 2005 might think about trade for new unit. It's not easy task to find "hair line" fractures of "intermittantly open" solder connections without use 10x jewlers loupe" or inspection microscope. Have you turned off or disabled all screen savers or power saving mode software? Let us know results of investigation. 12fixlouie

Monitor L17AMTN flashes WinXP desktop, then blanks.

dmellman, Before you open it up, try this! With fully booted pc and WIN DESKTOP screen up, reconnect the L17AMTN . Have a bright flashlight handy so that when the lcd screen flashes on for 1 second and then goes dark, you will want to check to see if the desktop remains on the screen even though you think it went away. Shine the light 1-2 inches from screen at different angles. Has the desk top completely disappeared or is it still being displayed? Do you know about Cold-Cathode-Fluorescent tubes and their Inverter type power supply? I assume that this unit also has a "lay on floor black box switch-mode-power-supply" that is supposed to supply raw 12v-14v dc to the monitor? This symptom is typical of lcd monitor power supply failure, and or inverter board failure. Not to mention the fact that the CCFT's could be a bit tired from use. YOUTUBE has some videos on taking apart lcd monitors. also do search on web for "bad caps on lcd boards" or "bad caps in lcd monitors". I should think that this Tatung might suffer from swollen cap-itis. get back to me with results of your investigation. Im louie12fix on fixya or just nrth of Windy City
