No. Video on dSLRs is a relatively new concept, first introduced with the Nikon D90 in August of 2008. The XTi is two years older and lacks this ability.

I can not get a signal thru the usb port from a video camera. It works on a tv.

check computer to make sure usb port is actually hooked up to the motherboard. Alot of times premades (computers purchased already put together, i.e. emachine, acer, gateway etc) will not actually plug the front usb's into motherboard... also check connections in computer to make sure usb is the correct type. I think there are a few different types of usbs.

In video rec ther is no sound

Actually, this camera has no sound recording. Does not have a mic or any sound recording mechanism at all. I used a mp3 music player and recorder to record the sound while recording images with the camera and bonded them together by video edition software.

I have a quite old Canon MV400i camcorder, which I am unable to get any connection indication from my new PC when I connected by S video/S video cable, the same applies when connected by the AV in/out jack...

For a camera of the kind you have, you need an analogue video input card in the computer to accept the video input, and you need to play the video into the computer while the computer records it. The PC will not recognise the camera as such, using these AV connections, it will only see a video signal. You don't have to install anything relating to the camera on the computer, but you need software running on the computer that understands the video input card and can take the analogue input and store it in a file. Yes, I know the computer stores the videos on digital tape, but the connectors you are talking about are analogue, and so is the signal at that point.

I am not sure that your computer actually has a video input interface (unless you have installed one?). Sometimes display cards have s-video sockets that are actually output sockets. In any case, video input interface cards generally come with the software required to capture input- it won't be specific to the camera.

Recorded video segment plays back in fast motion. How do i reset

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recordings.

When you say "turns itself off" do you mean the camera actually shuts off or does it just stop recording. If it just stops recording, it's because 10 seconds of video is all that will fit on the internal memory. If this is the case you just need to get a memory card for the camera.

If it's actually shutting off the power, there may be a problem with the camera. You could try posting about this problem at http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_forum.php?id=92

There are people there with a good amount of experience with these cameras.

Cybershot dsc-w70 stuck in video mode

Ok! I've searched and searched, so hopefully this will help you all out.

If the videos are very slow moving, you're in multi burst mode. Simple fix, actually...

Press menu button that's below the dial selector. There should be two small options near the bottom of the screen "mode" and the little suitcase.

Go into mode and make sure that Normal is selected. Multi Burst is actually a 16 frame per second function good for sports. It shows as a slow motion video on the camera and a sort of collage on your computer.

Hope this helps. :)
