Question about Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

Incompatiblity of R300 & Toshiba 2 GB SD Memory Card

As you may be aware, the Epson R300 printer comes with several card reader slots, inlcuding the SD. I recently acquired a new camera and use the 32MB SD card that came with the camera with no problem. The R300, however, does not recognize the 2GB SD Card (SD-F02G).

Is it the 2GB size that is the problem? Toshiba Tech Support was not helpful.

Regards,

How do i insert the 8b memory card in the memory card reader? i've tried it several ways and it does not light up??? i need a visual

The Dynex 5-in-1 Reader may be too old to read high capacity secure digital cards. (HCSD)
An 8 GB SD card is definitely going to be high capacity. Only the relatively newer SD readers can read the HCSDs.

Try putting in a 2 GB or lower size SD card and see if it works. If it does, then your card reader doesn't support higher capacity cards.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

It sounds as if you have an SD card reader, not an SDHC card reader. While SDHC cards will fit into SD slots, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. SD devices are limited to cards 2GB and smaller. SDHC cards begin at 4GB and go up to 32GB.

Wrong SD cards????

Your printer may have issues reading SDHC memory cards. The Secure Digital 2.0 standard (SDHC) is not backwards compatible and requires SDHC compatible devices in order to function.

I do not have the disc to install in my pc how can i get pictures from my camera to my pc?

The simplest solution is to buy a card reader for your particular memory card (SD, Xd, etc). The card reader will have a slot for your memory card and a plug for your computer's USB port. This does require removing the memory card from your camera and inserting it into the card reader. Some computers have card readers built into them already, but beware that some older computers will not accept an SD card over 1 or 2 GB memory size. The card reader will solve this problem.
