Question about Frigidaire FDF50S Dehumidifier

Open Question

The unit runs, but not water coming out

The units fan is running, no warning lights on, everything seems fine, but no water coming out. This is the first time since winter I have ran the unit. It is only one year old and is in a finished basement with heat and air.
Thanks.

Check the point on the tank (Bucket) where the hose connects to. Make sure there is no obstruction at the outlet of the bucket to the hose connection. Next make sure the hose has no kinks or no loops that may trap air to the drain. If necessary for a long run to the place of drainage raise the dehumidifier to a higher level for better drainage.

SOURCE: The unit runs fine, it's just not collecting water

Hi,
Checkout the unit now to see if there is water coming into the bucket now that you have turned it off...the coil may have frozen over...
The clicking sound would also be a result of the frozen coil...

If that is happening it is because there is a leak and the unit is not charged properly anymore...

Other causes could be the compressor going bad or a bad enough leak so that it will not cool at all...

Check the filter to make sure it is not plugged up with dirt...

Here is a tip that I wrote also about this problem...

Fan always runs, speed doesnt change (low/high), setting humidity level doesnt impact...is this a control board or circuit board issue?

Verify the humidity reading with another device. Perhaps the humidity sensor is dirty or bad.

Another possibility is the switching device that runs the compressor and fan is shorted. If it's a mechanical relay, the contacts may have welded together, or if it's a solid-state relay, it's got a punch-through or meltdown in a device junction. My guess is it's a mechanical relay since you mention it used to click on and off and now you don't hear that. The relay may be on the control board, or it may be mounted separately - I don't have a photo or diagram of the inside of your model available.

I have a DeLonghi DNC65 dessicant dehumidifier about 4years ol. It runs for about 2-3minutes then the alarm light comes on and then it switches off. It is operating in a room which is 15 deg. C. Is this...

Ignore the first comment, Desiccant dehumidifiers do not have Freon, or a compressor...

The warning light coming on after a few minutes could be one of a few things (but probably most likely due to overheating or the detection of something not right in the unit operation. Most likely faults include:

1) failure of main fan motor (this would cause eventual overheat)
2) failure of heater blower motor (this would cause an overheat)

3) clogged desiccant wheel (restricting air flow and causing overheat)

Generally the warning lights only come on if an overheat occurs, If the heater has failed these units usually continue to run, albeit cold, and with no water being extracted.

Another culprit could be the water level cut of switch being faulty.

Unit fan is running but the compressor is not.

Hi,
It could be a bad compressor, circuit board, or maybe even a sensor or dehumidistat...

Unit runs and you can hear the compressor come on but it is not pulling any moisture out of the air

if it seems to be running normally except no cooling , is the fan in the house running????...Is the house Cold and damp???.If there is no cooling and you know that the compressor and everything else appears to be normal then you likely have a Refrigerant leak and that will cause no cooling.....Usually a very expensive repair...if your unit is 5-10+ yrs old you likely need a new "A" coil.

Everything seems to run fine, just hasn't pulled a drop of water

remove the back airfilter, and touch the tubes while the unit is running, if nice and cold, all is well, there just isnt any moisture there. but if compressor is running and tubes are warm , means freon/coolant has leaked out

Unit works fan runs lights turn on but no water in the bucket,

Some units use the condensate water to cool down the condenser coil. This is why no water is present. If water is leaking from the unit or you are still sceptical about this problem, I would call for service.

Year 2005 cycling fan and compressor

Your unit is probably operating in defrost mode. When you use a dehumidifier in a cold room, the condensing coils can freeze water. The unit senses this and thus stops the compressor until the water frozen on the coils melts. Then it resumes its cycle. This is a problem you will have during the winter months. It makes the operation of the unit inefficient, but this is otherwise normal behavior.

Running but not collecting water...

Sorry to be vague in advance. I am a bit confused as to the compressor seems to be running bit. If the unit is on you should hear the compressor making a continuous noise. What you have described over a relay going click every fifteen secs could be the compressor overload / relay. If it is then the compressor is trying to start hence the dimming lights. Either way I would suggest one of two scenarios either the compressor is faulty or cannot start due to the relay or the unit is short of gas. Eiher way not a good scenario. I would suggest a tech to confirm or spend the money towards a new unit. Hope this helps.

Bogus 'Full' warning

or you could just tape the bucket in place. when the compressor kicks in the unit vibrates which might be shacking the bucket loose to the point that it doesn't make contact with the switch.
