Question about Quantaray AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 High Speed Auto Focus Zoom for Minolta

Image in viewfinder slightly unfocused, photo clear.

Not quite sure this is even a problem, but I find it a bit odd.
When I look through the viewfinder on my Canon EOS 500D/Rebel T1i camera the image I see is slightly blurred and unfocused (even when I Autofocus) but when the photo is taken it is perfectly clear and even the image on the Live View screen is clear. It's just the image in the viewfinder.

    Thank you.

Any recommendations on a good & safe way of cleaning the mirror?

And if that doesn't resolve the issue, how do you clean the viewfinder?

Never clean the mirror inside of your camera, leave it for the pros. Adjust the DIOPTER wheel for the viewfinder for your problem.

Either your viewfinder needs to be cleaned or your camera needs to be cleaned. Most of the time it is the mirror in the camera that is causing this issue and cleaning it will make everything better.

go and get what you would use to clean your set of REALLY good glasses, the rag that they give you that is lint free. That will clean the mirror, you do not want to use any chemicals. To safely clean the viewfinder I would highly recommend taking it to a repair shop because taking it apart is very tricky and putting it back together is just as tricky. When you are cleaning the mirror on your camera I would also recommend just wiping down the internal parts of the camera all together. I had this issue with my Nikon, and after cleaning the internal parts of the camera everything was perfect. Just be very careful. Please rate

Canon 1d mark 4 camera viewfinder problem

Adjust the viewfinder diopter to match your eye. Remove the rubber eyecup by grasping both sides and sliding it up. Turn the little knob to the left of the viewfinder until the focus points or center metering circle appear sharp. Replace the eyecup.

The photos from my Ricoh Caplio R4 are no longer sharp (they are blurred if anything). Lens is clean & undamaged, I have tried factory reset, new SD card, spare battery (just in case). Thanks in...

you seem to have a similar problem to the one I posted a couple of days ago John. Is your viewfinder image clear before you take your photo? Mine only takes clear shots if I move the sound/movie/camera button up and down a few times and actually see a clear image in the viewfinder before I take a shot. How you cure that is why I posted my query.

Perfectly good photos but image in view finder will not focus Nikon D80 camera

Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. There's a little dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder. You want to be looking at an unfocused view or a blank wall. Turn the dial until the focus brackets are sharp. Make sure you do this with your shooting eye.

Photo is blurry and always shades of pink

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free worldwide, and may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Diopter adjustment and viewfinder problem

Hi
I would not attempt to open the camera for any sort of fix. It has weather seals in place and would recommend sending it in to Canon. If you have any warranties left it would void these. Lastly this is a high proformance bit of kit and you want to get is seen to by an Authourised Canon Dealer.

As for the diopter adustment. To be able to see through the view finder and see your subject clearly, take of the lens cap aim the camera and turn the little dial until the screen inside the viewfinder is clear it should not be fuzzy. You are only looking at the screen/gring and not the image beyond. This does not affect your image but does effect how clearly you see your subject through the viewfinder.

Hope this helps

Sharp photos on camera but very blurred when downloaded

Two things:

1.Digital cameras do not do well in low light, unless you want to spend $750 and carry around a bulky camera. The smaller and thinner the digital camera, the less you can expect high IQ(Image Quality) in certain types of conditions; low light, moving objects, long zoomed shots when camera has no IS(Image Stabilization), and long flash shots(Flash is only good to about 10Feet.

2.Your cameras display is small compared to a computers display, so the picture will look better on the camera because you cannot see the detail(pixels) as well as a much larger computer display. If you limit your prints to standard 3X5 or 4X6 or 5X7 view, then you will get a better idea if they are worth keeping for printing in these sizes later.

Read digital photo forums and start with your manual under Taking Pictures, or such, to learn about digital photography and how to live with limitations.

I think you will find the advantages far outweigh the limitations.

Area captured in photo different from area saw in viewfinder

Make sure you look straight through the viewfinder. Keep in mind that the area visible through the viewfinder is slightly smaller than the area captured in the photo. If you're taking a close-up or macro mode picture, turn the camera dial to the LCD mode so that you can use your LCD screen to preview your picture.
