You may need to replace the brush unit. Make sure your belt is tight and turns.

If I'm understanding your question concerning cable/belt ,you can go to a bissel parts supplyer on line and order what you need ther are two bels that are envolved inthat area. The one that turs the brush is the belt with the teeth/cogs on it. To replace it there is an accesess door on the right hand side, using a screwdriver gently pry up on the door, which will expose the belt area .The belt that you are replaceing will attach on the brush then strech it to the point of the motor shaft, since one belt remains it's a simple prosses of elimination.the rest of your question is some what envolved I've requested info about the same area. So you might want to keep a look out for the answer tohow realign smartmix valve
Hope this helps.

Brush is not turning and water is not coming out when lever is squeezed

You may have a broken brush belt they break far too easily. Turn it over and look around the sides of the brush for a broken rubber belt.

I have a bissell 7901-1 carpet cleaner and the gear the runs the beater bar is loose how does it connect to the pump thanks

turn your unit over so you are looking at the bottom (side towards floor) on either side of the brush are a phillip's screw- one side will show a larger red piece- take that phillips screw out, it will show you the pump you can take the belt access cover off and see the one belt, the belt to the beater brush is gear like- take the belt that connects to the brush and loop it over the gear on the pump- then put the brush belt over the brush and seat it back into the protector- I would suggest you hand spin the brush to ensure both belts and the pump are turning otherwise You may do like I did and burn the other belt- I replaced both belts just because it made sense- reseat the red piece you removed then replace and tighten the screw-

Hi my proheat bissell 7901 stopped pumping water to the floor, but it pumps water from the hand hose. I read the manual and followed how to check belt and the flat belt on right side of shampooer is fine...

just taken ours apart with the same problem... found it was caused by the 2 halves of the main casing coming apart in the area where the upright pedal release is. I found this to be due to the upper casing having broken in 2 places - the bottom of the screw wells. This means that the water tank cannot exert sufficient pressure on the valve to release the water. Only solution is a new top cover assembly

Brushes will not turn

sounds like the belt is broken.
The brush belt is located behind a panel on the right front side as you look at the unit from the front.

Bissell ProHeat belt won't turn, and belt snapped

The brush roll is probably melted to the ends. there is a new brush roll ***'y with new ends. more reliable than old design. usually happens because floor is not vacuumed well enough and too much hair is left on carpet which winds around the roller and melts the end.

to replace the pump belt , make the machine safe ,
Remove the pump belt cover Turn the machine over ,You must remove the floor brush,
You will see two red retainers on either side of the machine ,remove the screws which hold these on ,remove them .
pull the pivot arm out of there slots remove the brush, you will see the brush belt remove all these ,
you can then feed the pump belt over the end of the pump and motor spindle .refitt in reverse order
All this should be in the instructions, Could luck
