Place the bin on top of the filter housing, with the bin tilted slightly away from the vacuum, then while the bin pressing down and towards the vacuum keep pressing until you hear it 'click' onto the latch. Sometimes it helps to lift up the latch while you are installing the bin and then let go of the latch once the bin is installed.

SOURCE: When the Dyson is upright and the removable parts to check for blockages are removed , sucking is strong. when the side one is reattached, the suction diverts to the outlet/slits on the bagless bin

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. From what you've described, it sounds as if the suction relief valve is activating because there may be a blockage in the cleaner head, or the internal hose.

The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to detach the internal hose by following the steps shown in the video below. Once you've removed any obstructions and replaced the hose, you should find this resolves the issue.

If you need any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON.

    Kind regards,

How do you get the bin cover back on?

    Hi, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC59's bin base is not designed to be removed from the machine in normal use. However if it's come off accidentally, the hinge is a push-fit connection and you should be able to reattach it without difficulty.

If you're having issues with this, you're welcome to get in touch with our experts directly so we can talk you through it. When you have your DC59 to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I cant get my Dyson canister to reattach correctly.

Hi Gayla, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty replacing your DC28's clear bin and cyclone. They should lift away from the machine when you push the red release catch, and should reattach in the same way without any issues.

From what you've described it sounds as if something is out of place. You may want to remove and replace the washable HEPA post-filter as shown in the video below - if the clear post-filter cover isn't fitted correctly this could prevent the bin from sitting correctly on the vacuum. Make sure all the black rubber seals are in position, and that the bin base is closed all the way around. It's also a good idea to check the red release catch for any damage.
If you continue to have difficulties you're welcome to get in touch for some additional assistance. You can reach us by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

    Dyson canister won't fit snugly

    Hi there,

I am sorry to hear your canister is not fitting properly. You may want to separate your cyclone assembly (the top purple portion of your canister) from the clear bin and reattach the components to ensure they are fitted together properly.

To do this, open the bottom of the clear bin, as if you were emptying it. Please be sure the bin is positioned over a trash receptacle in the event there is debris in the bin. Once the bottom of the bin is open please look at the back of your canister. Below the purple top of the canister and to the left of the debris inlet is a clear plastic loop that you can slip your index finger through. Just above this loop is a gray release catch . Using your thumb, press down on the gray release mechanism. At this point you should be able to gently pull the clear bin away from the cyclone assembly. After separating the pieces, briefly inspect them to confirm they are not damaged. If there is no obvious damage, close the base of the clear bin and place the bin on a hard flat surface. Next, carefully lower the cyclone assembly onto the clear bin. It may be helpful to use the red plastic piece on the back of your cyclone assembly and clear bin to line the pieces up correctly. You will hear a slight click once the pieces have been successfully reattached.

Please attempt to return the canister to the machine. If you are still not able to attach the canister successfully, please call us so we can provide further assistance. We can be reached at 1-866-693-9766 (US), 0800 298 0298 (UK), and 01-475-7109 (IE).

    Best wishes,

The canister will not snap back onto the front of the vacuum.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If the canister won't reattach to the vacuum, you might want to check you have it assembled correctly - you can find out how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, here's an online copy:

If you're certain the bin is assembled correctly and it still won't attach to the cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Bottom of canistter has come apart from the canister how do you reattach the bottom

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the problem with your DC17. If you look at the front of the bin base, you should see two tabs, which correspond with the indentation on the front of the bin body. You should be able to line the tabs on the base up with the notch on the bin body, and gently but firmly clip the two pieces back together.

However, if you have difficulty doing this, or if the tabs have broken off, it's probably best if you get in touch with us so one of our experts can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email

I have a Dyson DC07 upright vacuum I emptied the cylinder and the bottom lid fell off not sure how to reattach in case it breaks - any clues?

It has two little pegs that hold it onto the perspex cylinder. Really, it shouldn't fall off during normal use. Check one of the little pegs hasn't broken off. If it has, you need to replace the bin flap. If the pegs are OK, check the two mounting holes on the perspex cylinder. If you need to replace either, you can get them from here: as Dyson will not sell you cylinder components but those guys will.

How do i empty my dyson dc07

    Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Remove the bin and cyclone assembyl by pressing the release button above the word Dyson on the carrying handle towards the machine.

Then hold the bin and cyclone assembly over a dustbin and pull the trigger located underneath the carrying handle which will release the bin base to empty the dust and debris from the bin.

I hope this information is useful to you and should you need any further help or advice, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

The base of the clear bin won't open.

Just had the same problem. Finally realised what to do. Pull the long rod away from the top against its spring (by the rubber gaiter) and whilst holding it, undo the screw holding the long rod to the top trigger mechanism. Now you can wiggle the rod part free (careful of the plastic lug on the side opposite the screw). Now, you can look down through the cyclone whilst inserting the rod properly into the releaser at the bottom and open the base. Reassemble the rod into the top. NOW reinsert it into the cyclone with the base door OPEN and using two fingers locate the rod into the releaser lever. Now you can close the door. Phew. Hope this is clear enough as a guide.
