Write protected card

I have a Samsung DVD camera recorder model SC DC173U.

The2GB SD card says "Write Protect", so I cannot record anything on it, neither can I rename the videos on the card. Can you help?

On the SD adapter, there is a lock tap you push down usually when you put your SD card in to it, then into the USB adapter. To turn off the write protection on your SD, simply do not lock your SD in its adapter.

Look for tiny white "switch" on the side of it. When slid to the "Lock" position, your card has become "Write Protected".

Hope that helps

Look carefully at the SD card. On one side you will find a "lock" switch. The card in question has this switch in the lock position. You can not delete an existing video because the delete function actually requires the ability to update the card which is a writing function. Flip the switch and your problem should be resolved.

When looking at the card from the top (see pictures) there is one required notch on the right side (the side with the diagonal notched corner).

just slide the notch and use.

If still any problem just Ask me

My camcorder indicates there is an sd card but will not record to it

Check to make sure the type of SD. card matches what the maufacturer calls for. Also the SD card may need to be formatted before you can record to it. Check your intruction manual to find out how to format the card. One last thing to check is if the SD card is locked. Usually on one of the corners there is a sliding tab used to protect and unprotect against recording over any material that may be on the card. Hope this helps.

When I turn on camer to record the word protection comes on . will not record i

Mini-DV tapes have a manual write-protect switch on them to prevent accidental erasure or over-recording of previous recordings. I expect this switch has been set to "save", perhaps accidentally.

how did you transfer the video from the card to your PC?

did you connect the camcorder to your PC or did you use a memory card reader?

if you can play the audio then what you need is the right video codec for the unit
try searching for video codecs through search engines

make sure that the software that you are using to play the video plays the file format of your video,

try using roxio, then connect the camcorder to your computer via USB, make sure that the drivers are installed, play the video through your camcorder then use roxio to capture it real time instead of the usual "copy-paste"
