Hey, Just recently my Phaser 6250 stated printing "muddy" Like the logo from our company has always printed perfect on the printed and now it prints really dark and muddy. I've already gone through the color correction and brightness controls on the printer.
I've printed out a "Supplies Usage" page and here are the numbers: Black: 46% Cyan: 99% (this was low so I thought that this was the problem so I replaced it... it's not the problem.) Magenta: 38% Yellow: 80% Transfer Roller: OK Imaging Unit: 46% Fuser: 52%
I've contacted XEROX and they didn't help. I also called a Xerox Service Provider and they said that the "laser might be dirty" and they will come and look at it for $200. Blah!

The 6250 is a laser printer and has to printhead or wiper. If it's not printing 2 sided that's most likely the duplex unit giving the problem, but please verify the model.
If you want to use photo paper for your Xerox phaser make sure the photo paper is meant to be used in your printer. The best paper would be the Xerox brand photo paper which is made to be used in the Xerox phaser printers. You use them like normal paper and print your document or image onto the paper. If you cannot find the paper that works with this xerox printer go to the Xerox website and under supplies, then entering your printer model it will give a list to the paper recommended for this model.
Big problems here, sorry, suspect the magenta might be at the root of your problem.
as your problem was listed 2009 I suspect you might have sorted your problem by now.
Good luck.
Sounds like it is time to replace the imaging drum. This is a consumable and usually done every 15-20k pages. Cost is about $250-300 and very easily replaced, fast as changing a toner.
I am assuming that you tried changing the yellow toner already? If not, do that first...
Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"
Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.
Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density
It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)
Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.
When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.
