You can buy a decent hi to low crossover box from any stereo shop, peripheral makes em, so does rockford fosgate, even scoshe at walmart. The new rockford fosgate 3 sixty is pretty neat but I don't know the price.

Does a 2002 Altima have an AUX connection?

No, but some of the stock radios have a DIN connector in the back that allows you to plug in a harness and switch that will provide the aux input. The radios are not that hard to find on EBAY, I bought one for $20. but I have not built the harness yet. There is info all over the net if you google: Altima DIN aux.

I have a couple of questions regarding my jl 500/1. the first question: i just transferred my amp/subs (subs are JL W3s) to a new vehicle, and the place i had install it switched the "high/low"...

ok..well theres a lot of question in there, lemme take a shot at it.

the hi/low switch explained: the hi/low switch tells the amp what signal voltage is being delivered to the amp...hi-power (4-15volts) or low-power(micro-volts). Your aftermarket head unit had what are called pre-outs (or preAmp outs) meaning the source signal (your music) is not amplified before being delivered to the amplifier...sooo...your amplifier setting for your aftermarket radio would be 'low' to tell the amp that the music source being sent to it is low-voltage.

Typically a manufacturers radio will not have pre-outs, they will be amplified by the radios internal amp to anywhere from 4volts on up, and you need to tell your jl audio amp that the source music being supplied is 'hi' voltage.

soo...of course...if you are sending 10volts to the amplifier and tell it that your sending micro-volts (low setting) your amp will over-amplify the signal and thus the overwhelming bass you experienced.

How do I access the antenna input to the radio on my 2002 ES300? I have a JVC HD radio tuner that connects in series with the antenna input to the factory installed radio.

in some instances, you will have to leave the stock head unit partially connected and hidden in the dash when installing an aftermarket head unit because of subsystems operations. don't try to save a buck!! take it to a pro and have it done right the first time because it's better than setting your car on fire!!! keep in mind, while drinking can make some females prettier---it only makes car accidents UGLIER!!! don't do it.

Volvo xc70 in limp mode 7 fault codes recorded d5

Possible problem with the alternator not putting out enough voltage. I had the same problem with my 2002 XC70, putting in a new alternator fixed it. I used a local mechanic who I found on the car talk web-site. Low Cost Volvo parts can be purchased at FCP Groton.

How do i connect a kenwood amp to my 2003 bmw m3 with a stock hk system and head unit? i just need to kno where to connect the amp to the car radio

You will need to connect your speaker outputs from the head unit to the high power inputs on the amplifier. If the amp only has low power inputs(rca jacks) then you will need to get a device that lowers the output signal from the radio so the amp can be connected. The red wire will go to the switched power. The yellow will go to constant power. Black goes to ground. Now the blue wire is the signal the amp gets from the stereo to turn on. Your stock stereo will probably not have this ability so you will have to hook that wire to the switched power. Your amp will come on whenever the key is on...even if the stereo is off. If your stock stereo has a wire that sends out a power signal when it is turned on you could try that for the blue wire. Just make sure you have the negative battery cable on the car disconnected so you don't short out your vehicle's electrical system while installing the amp.

BMW M3 E46 Stereo whine

What you are hearing is ground loop interference. If you have an aftermarket headunit/amplifier this is a common occurrence. A ground loop isolator in line with the low level amplifier inputs should solve the problem. Otherwise, it may be a malfunction of the stock cd unit or amplifier. BMW used a balanced input on some of the stock amplifiers, which would make ground loop interference all but impossible.

Amp protection

Hi, Off hand, I believe there is nothing wrong with the setup, maybe just not 100% compatible. It's just that the Sony Amp's protection is doing its job (just too good) and the stock radio is likewise doing it's job (but not too good). Just maybe, at poweron, the stock radio sends out a small burst output (maybe capacitor discharge) that we normally hear as a slight thump in the speakers which was when no Sony amp, ok. However, when you have added the amp, you also amplified the thump, which unfortunately the Sony protection reacts to. You can off course let it be since you have figured out a way to make it work or you can try and install a delay on for the power amp or separate it's power on from the stock stereo. The idea is to turn on the stereo with the Sony off and after a second or less, a manual switch or a delay activated switch will turn on the Sony. The idea is to switch on the Sony after the thump has finished. Good luck and hopes this gives you an idea. Pls post back how things turn up. Kind regards.
