Question about Engel Freezer 22 Qt. Fridge/Freezer

Hotpoint delivered an expensive Stainless Steel fridge freezer on Feb 1st and damaged my kitchen flooring in several places, which prior to this was in pristine condition. Also the appliance was found to be badly damaged on both doors when unpacked.Hotpoint suggested replacing doors and a week later they sent someone who also saw the state of the damaged flooring and he immediately ordered a replacement appliance for delivery the following week. During this replacement delivery they further damaged my flooring and had to tear a large amount of the worst damaged area to allow the appliance to be stable as it has made a piled mess underneath it! They also grazed the side of the 2nd appliance which now shows as white, which I decided not to complain about with the stress of everything else. Indesit complaints department asked for 2 estimates for replacement, and a receipt for flooring which I no longer have. I phoned and explained that, also pointing out that torn and damaged vinyl flooring cannot be repaired, and was told that would be fine and of course they wouldn't expect the flooring to be repaired. I sent the estimates with a covering letter giving all the relevant information and explaining that I had been unable to find anything like the flooring I have in colour and design which was disappointing, although the one I have settled with is cheaper than mine I was happy to order that and get it settled. They have sent the estimates back to me asking for a letter from each company stating that the flooring cannot be repaired, and the replacement is of equivalent value, also asking for a receipt for the flooring or I need to give the age of the flooring so that they can determine the amount they can pay TOWARDS the cost of supplying & fitting it! I live alone, have no animals and so the flooring bought to match my new kitchen which cost me £300 was in pristine condition,(I offered to send photos including the damaged half and the perfect half and they declined my offer twice)I had no intentions of buying new flooring, I don't need it, and with the high price I paid for the appliance they delivered to me I certainly couldn't afford it if I did! Now it would seem that I will have to pay something towards this and I feel this is totally wrong. It has taken me time to get my kitchen just right, this appliance was to be my last large purchase to bring it all together. I am naturally devastated. Can they make me pay some of the costs?

Ok, since you have no proof the company does not need to pay for the floor damage. Suggestion: Buy the new flooring out of your own pocket. And if you really want to try and get money for the repairs from the people who moved the appliance in, take them to civil claims court (United States)

Water is dripping from the bottom of the fridge (slow drip). How do I fix it. I have a Maytag French Door stainless steel fridge (4-year-old) with freezer on the bottom.

There should be a drip tray catching the defrost water... it may be overfull... Try to remove it and empty it. The tray is actually supposed to have a heat evaporator to dry up the water before it overflows. Your may be fuller due to excessive frost also... from hot temperatures outside or opening the fridge too often or for too long... good luck!

Our frigide is defrosting water into the bottom the fridide the lays in the cavity under the crisper and after a while(8 or 12 DAYS)RUNS OUT ON THE FLOOR

you have a clogged defrost drain. when y our unit goes into defrost, the water that is supposed to go down a tube from your freezer down to the bottom outside of the unit, into a pan to evaporate, instead is going into your fridge etc. This drain needs to be cleared. I would not recommend doing it yourself, you may cause further more expensive damage.

Does your model have independent thermostats for the fridge & freezer???

If not, could be that you will need to change the Thermostat.
These are not expensive - around £10 if you buy on the Internet.
Easy to fit yourself...just turn off the power, remove the power plug from the wall, then unscrew the 'stat unit from inside near the top of the fridge (some are attached to the interior light) and remove the screw holding the thermostat tube to the rear wall.
Often the thermostat gets a small hole somewhere in the long tube, which then lets all the gas escape, making the stat useless.
You can see these small holes in the pipe if you use a magnifying eyeglass, like the kind Jewellers use.

Fridge is not level - it is higher at the front than at the back.

We had the same problem when our was delivered last week. I spoke to Samsung customer services.

They said the roller in the middle of the front is not meant to be there permanently. It is just a transport roller and should be removed once your fridge freezer is in place.

To remove it:-

- unscrew the two white plastic feet at either side of the front until they touch the floor.

- then place a flat end screwdriver in the slots in the feet and continue to unscrew them. They will start to lift the front of the firdge -freezer up until the front roller no longer touches the floor.

-keep doing this (a little bit each side at a time so the fridge -freezer stays level) until the roller is about 15mm off the floor.

- then get a small flat spanner and remove the two small bolts on the metal plate that holds the roller to the bottom of the fridge-freezer.

Once these bolts are removed the roller and plate will drop to the floor and can be removed.

Then using the screwdriver, screw the feet back in until the point when the front of the fridge-freezer is level with the back.

The whole process shouldn't take you longer than 15 minutes.

I asked Samsung why this isn't included in their instruction manual and they couldn't give me an answer which I thought was poor.

I do wonder how many Samsung RSH1 fridge-freezers are out there with the front roller still attached!!!

If the problem started prior to July 2008 and you had service document it!
call Frigidaire and ask for a supervisor!
Tell them that you want it replaced or you will not buy the, Frigidaire Pro stainless steel kitchen that you planned to get in 2 months when you remodel you kitchen!
They call it a PUSH PULL!
They contact me or some other dealer and pay them replace it for you and it includes all charges that they pay to the dealer!
0 dollars for you! I do this often!

Commercial Freezers

I have worked in a lot of kitchens and don't really have a preferance. The top mounted compressor is better for you as it is easier to service and leaves more cabinet room. Dirt and dust also stay near the floor. YOu won't have to clean the filter as often up high The disadvantage to this in a kitchen is that kitchens are hot and up high is hotter still. Order a cheaper model. No glass doors, no stainless steel. You don't need these features.

Hotpoint fridge freezer

Your defrost system is not working. Try to find the defrost timer and advance it until it clicks. The back of the refer should have a diagram with the location on it. If this works then replace the timer, if not, then you need to remove the floor of the freezer an replace the defrost element and limit switch.
