Question about Heating & Cooling
I have a Rinnai 2001 heater that normally works fine. Last night, the heater wouldn’t light. I turned the ignition knob around and then pressed it down. I could hear the clicking sound that means it's trying to ignite the pilot light but it didn’t light.
I then pressed down harder on the knob and turned it. Now the knob is stuck down and I cannot get it back to the ignition/off position. I can turn it along the temperature range which doesn’t help as I can’t ignite the heater. The knob is obviously stuck lower than it usually is and I can’t get it back up. Can anyone suggest a solution?

The trick is that it may take a long time for the flammable portion of the gas to reach the pilot light orifice where the flame lives. This happens a lot when the pilot flame has been out for some time. There won't be a clicking sound as YOU are supposed to provide the flame - it's not like a cooking stove with such conveniences, because the pilot light is only an occasional thing to light it's rare to find an ignition source built in. I'd hate to see you spend good money when all you need to apply here is time and a flame.
