More that likely you are using the internal speakers for sound. There is an output IC (Integrated Circuit) that processes and amplifies the sound. If that fails partially you will get fuzzy sound, also the speakers could themselves be causing the problem. If you have an external Audio out try running it through an external amplifier if the sound is clear then the problem is the Audio output section...

To accomplish this connect the Red and White Audio OUT to the stereo. Use an audio patch cord and plug the cord into the amplifier using any input (you must select that input on the front panel) except a phono input.

Playing music from my computer into my tx-ds494 it has been cutting out into a really loud fuzzy noise like when your between radio stations

Sound like a poor connection to me. Verify the integrity of the cable on some different equipment if possible. Use some electrical contact cleaner such as DeOxit or Servisol Super 10 on the cable connectors and also in the computer audio output. Spray cleaner on the jack and then push in and out of the socket several times to scrub the connectors.

If you are using built in sound from a PC, it may be worth getting an external audio interface as the standard internal ones are not known for their hi-fi sound!

Pull out the radio and check to make sure the antenna is not unplugged. Also check the antenna wiring from the dash all the way out to the antenna.

Auto muting on when on am/fm and no sounds come out. everything else is fine.

That's normal.

The Auto Muting mode mutes the audio output of the tuner if the station is not sufficciently strong to be accurately tuned. Otherwise you would hear all that interstation hash noise.

Press the FM Mode button to change it to Mono if you want to manually tune a hard-to-reach station. It will be in Mono.

Page 26:

AUTO MUTING
Normally select this.
When a program is broadcast in stereo, you will hear stereo sound; when in monaural, you will hear monaural sound.
This mode is also useful to suppress static noise between stations. The AUTO MUTING indicator lights up on the display.

When using cable input video is good but sound has fuzzy static

Your TVs tuner tuned a little off frequency. It could be as simple as having cable box on where you have good picture but fuzzy sound, use the TVs remote to change the channel and then change it back to proper channel. If that doesn't fix you may have wrong tuning type selected in channel set up menu.
